Halloween Plans and Other Bits of Tid

So what are everyone's Halloween plans? Any good costumes? DanaWillEatU and I will be attending a Halloween gathering with fellow work friends at Tilla1234's abode. I plan on using something mysteriously called "black vodka" to mix unnatural looking, scary, and ultimately very alcoholic drinks that hopefully more than just myself and Tilla will consume. DanaWillEatU and I will be in costume as Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, and this spud plans to be the lead singer of the greatest Halloween Rock Band impromptu musical group ever, so long as Bon Jovi and Journey are saved for last and no one tries to kill my singing buzz.

Also, I would like to make note that there is a Daymonster imposter roaming the streets in my town. Next chance I get I will post a picture for all to see. I saw him at church the last two weekends (which was a clear indicator of imposterism and not full fledged cloning). I also found out this week that my supervisor at work frequented the Broiler while growing up. We discussed the merits of greasy food conquering hangovers, and agreed hollandaise sauce is a big help.

I played Halo 3 for the first time in probably a year with Tilla1234 last weekend while cursing Drew Brees ruining my fantasy football hopes and dreams (I ended up winning the week anyway, thanks Eli and Knowshon). Tilla had McFadden, which made me want to hit him with my roller. On another football note, I was voted MVP of our touch football league at work last night. I took over for quarterback 3 games into the season and won 2 of the last 4 (we were previously winless). Yesterday I threw TD passes of 15, 20, 30, 35, and 40 (mostly RAC) in my best performance yet. Reminds me of losing to SB and Puyo over and over on the IM fields, dealing with Chode as a receiver and my own defensive incompetencies.

Lastly, a bowling league update, our team name this year is "Smurf Yeah!" and we again had to find a new team member as our 3rd left work. Ironically, 3 weeks into the season our replacement announced his departure (that's 3 members in 4 years, anyone willing to drive on Thursdays and join my team?). Tonight I posted a 119, 171, and 178. My average so far is a 135, 15 pins lower than normal. I'm trying a new technique to try to generate higher revs on my ball and increase consistency, however the early goings aren't going so well (excluding my last two games tonight which I hope to continue forward). On a related note, the local lanes have added Schell Dark to their list of tap brews, which is comforting since it's a favorite of mine.

I hope to find time in November to visit the clubhouse, however half the weekends are spoken for already so it may be hard.

Happy Halloween!

Absolutely Nothing to Post About

Hey dudes,

As most of you know, I've relocated to Vienna, Austria instead of St. Paul. We never had a post about my wedding. I suppose I can put that together, but I'd also like to hear about it from Daymonster and Squatting Bear's point of view. Anyways, long story short, I got married on July 31 to an Austrian girl and am living here now.

The reason I say I have nothing to post about is because during the move over here I decided to leave my XBox at SB's house so I don't have any video game tales to write about. Of course I have my laptop, but I've never been a PC gamer. We have been looking at buying a used XBox or a Wii because we had a fun time playing Wii Fit games at a friend of Pablena's house.

Additionally, I don't have any new drinking stories. It's difficult to have a binge drinking adventure alone. I'll need to find some drinking partners over here before I can even think about putting together a great post like Unky Warthog's.

I'll let everyone know when I organize a return trip to the USA because I'll expect to have a gathering at the KofC clubhouse so I can see everybody. Otherwise, my door is always open for clan members who want to go on a Euro Trip. I also wanted to pimp my own blog, if you want to read about what's going on for me, check out pablitoneal.blogspot.com.

Broken Lizard

Now you may list different movies in your own top 5 or in your favorite movies on Facebook, but none of us (except maybe Adeclipse) can deny that the most influential film we've seen is Beerfest. It shaped our formative college years and introduced us to the wonderful lifestyle of beer games. Tomorrow night could be our one and only chance to see Beerfest's creators live and in person. I did the ticketmaster 'search for tickets' for best available and there are still tix in the lower level so there's not exactly a rush to buy them, except that the show is tomorrow (Saturday 10/10) night.

I'm honestly not sure what the presentation will be, whether it's stand-up comedy or sketches. I'm sure we could find out, but I'd prefer to be surprised.

Dammer: please consider a visit up here for this once in a lifetime opportunity. Maybe it could be your belated bachelor's party since I don't recall being invited to one before your wedding...

Puyo: I don't think you got as much enjoyment from this landmark movie as the rest of us back in school but I'd recommend re-watching it tonight or tomorrow during the day to guage your response.

Daymonster, SB, Unky's, and most importantly Josey: no excuses, we're going.

Weekend Recap

Hello KofC,

It's been a real long time since I actually posted a regular post. I would say arguably my last "real" post was December 5th. Those were the good old days. Christmas was still coming up and it wasn't -30 degrees.

Pablito and SB should be at the airport right now waiting for their flight. And I am at work, like a sucker. Feeling pretty sick.

As many of you know Pablito and SB came for the weekend on Saturday afternoon. I picked them up at the airport after a short delay and we went and got pizza at Pete's Pizza.

With both SB and myself feeling pretty sick, we sucked it up and joined some people on a Bar Golf tour. For those of you not familiar with Bar Golf, there are 9 bars on a pub/bar tour. Each one represents a hole and each one has a par. A par 4 is one drink/beer, par 5 is two drinks/beers. You can get birdies, eagles and hole-in-ones by drinking more drinks, shots, drop shots/bombs or combinations of all of them. We joined the group on the third hole, but quickly made up ground and arguably we could have made a case for the win or at least a sudden death playoff.

Amongst a lot of people dressed in golf apparel, we had a good time. One lady came over to us and asked what three good looking dudes were doing talking to each other and not her and her two friends. We politely played along as we might mosey our way over there, but then quickly walked the other way as she went back to report the news to her lonely friends. While the third female was obstructed from view, the two we could see (including the ballsy one who talked to us), were not quite up to our impossibly high standards. The ballsy one I referred too might have actually had balls. Her Adams apple was quite pronounced.

We found a couple new friends and convinced them to play credit card roulette for the next round of hole-in-one inducing irish car bombs. Luckily, each new member of our group got stuck with the bill. No funny business was used, third parties held the cards and the new members got to choose. Sometimes the drinking gods smile down on you.

We ended our night hailing a cab back to my place while a drunk homophob tried to fight us. Good times. We played castle crashers and braid for a while. Which btw, I recommend braid to all KofC members.

The next day we went to a breakfast place called Flat Top. Ate some food, and then played soccer. It was the playoffs and the two ringers I brought in couldn't do shit. Partially due to hangovers? Maybe. But either way my dreams of my soccer team finally winning a game was shattered.

Hungover and sick, we watched football and shawshank redemption for the rest of the night.

Yesterday we went to Notorious. Pablito and I liked it. SB thought it was boring. We then went to ESPN zone for dinner, and then quickly dropped about 60 bucks at the arcade. All throwing out our arms and schooling young children in hockey. After that we went to Lucky Strike, where we played pool and bowled.

Pablito won a very close bowling competition that netted him an extra 40 dollars on the night.

We came back and harassed people on PlayStation Home for a while. The non-workers (SB and Pablito) polished off the night with a boot each.

Some take aways from the weekend:
- Drinking slows down a recovery from sickness.
- Pablito is unstoppable at credit card roulette. (0 losses/6 games)
- SB is pretty good at credit card roulette. (1 loss/6 games)
- I am down right terrible at cc roulette (3 losses/6 games)
- PlayStation Home is fun for only one thing. Cock blocking 43 yr old UPS mechanic pedophiles.
- Obama is now the president of the United States. No matter how you feel about that, you have to admit the car trailing his new limo is down right awesome.

I'll be in MN, not this weekend, but next weekend. Anyone have any plans on Friday the 30th?

Housewarming Party

I just bought my plane ticket so it better be happening. Make sure you RSVP in the comments section.

UPDATE:
I was going to just leave it at that for today's post because a) I'm lazy and b) the story I am going to tell isn't really that good.

It all happened on Saturday night. I went to a bar called Wrigleyville North. It's about a block from my house and it's always a good place to get cheap drinks and watch/listen to some live music.

Some funny stuff happened while I was there. Two cops drove these three slutty girls to the bar in the back of the cop car. They got out and went into the bar, but the dude at the door wouldn't let them in because he thought it was a set up and one of the girls seemed absolutely smashed. Eventually they let them in but the one girl was not allowed to drink. She just laid her head on the bar while the other two girls danced around to the music.

It was probably around 2am and I needed to use the facilities, so I walked across the bar to the bathroom. It's a larger bathroom (which is funny because it's a tiny bar) so when I couldn't get the door open I knew it wasn't just simply locked. I gave it another good push and could feel the door give way enough to see that someone was leaning against it. Being pretty drunk and having to pee real bad I gave it another push and eventually squeezed in to the room.

Two dudes where in there. Not sure if they were doing a line of coke, or just playing "If you show me yours, I'll show you mine." But either way they didn't want me in there. Being completely oblivious, I stand up next to the urinal and start to relieve myself.

Here is where it went downhill. As I am standing there I say to the two sketchy characters, "What were you too fools doing in here that you didn't want any company" or something to that effect. I distinctly remember the word fool in my questions, because shortly after I posed the question, one of the dudes said, "Who you calling a fool?" and decided to punch me square in the eye as I was standing there with my pants down.

I saw a flash of light when it hit me and I feel back a bit. Amazingly I didn't pee on myself and re-buttoned my jeans. (I didn't zip up my fly, there wasn't enough time) I was obviously surprised. The other non-punching dude was holding the other guy back as I tried to weigh my options. I didn't really want to get my ass kicked by two guys in the bathroom but I alway didn't want to just let this guy punch me. Also, from hearing about drunken bar fights in court often end up getting their cases thrown out and I wasn't sure of the extend of the damage to my eye. (turns out besides redness and a little bit of soreness nothing happened with it... what a pussy)

I (briskly) walked out of the bathroom to tell my party what just transpired and just as they tell me I should get his name, I see the dude that punched me sprint out of the bar. The funny part is that the other dude in the bathroom started telling the bartender and bouncer that I just walked into the bathroom and started hitting them. Either way, we left the bar after that and I woke up with a little bit of soreness but nothing that bad.

So a reminder to all of the KofC members Publish Post, when some dudes are holding the bathroom door shut, just try and hold it a bit longer.

A Conversation Starter

I don't have much time to post this so it is devoid of links and media, however it is rich in content.

Tuesday I engaged in an email conversation concerning the announcement that Budweiser was going to start production of a left-handed beer can for all you Southpaws. Obviously this was an April Fools joke, but it got me thinking about what I consider to be my drinking hand. Of course, something this complex cannnot be boiled down to simply left or right. So, I engaged in an in-depth study of how I drink and also how I perceive drinking. Here is what I came up with:

- When playing cards, my left hand is my card holding hand. Therefore all drinking is done with the right. As is card laying/slapping.

- My right hand is my mug/stein hand when grabbing by handle usually, however when grabbing the stein by placing the hand fully inside the handle and wrapping said hand around the outside of the glass it's a left hand job.

- When bonging using a valve, the right hand is considered the drinking hand because it is used to turn the spout, controlling the flow of liquid. The left plays a support role in holding the bong.

- When bonging not using a valve the left hand is considered the drinking hand because the right hand dangles to the side, possibly placed on the floor. This means that the "drinking hand" defaults to the left since it kind of plays a part.

- Obviously Edward 40 hands is disregarded for this situation, although I almost always finish lefty first and open lefty with my teeth first. This same logic applies to "double fisting".

- Shotgunning (while potentially messy) is a two parter. The right hand initiates the flow, while the left controls the flow. Unlike the beer bong with the valve (which some people will close and ruin the point of a beer bong) each hand plays a part in flow distribution and so both are considered drinking hands.

- Keg stands would appear to be a combined effort, however it actually involve yours and two other peoples hands holding you up (on average) and one other person's hand pumping the keg so technically you have 7 drinking hands for a keg stand. Since I pour with my left and hold the cup with my right when filling a normal keg glass, and do both with my left and pump with my right only when needed, I am defaulting this over to the left hand.

- When I use my beer helmet I use my right fingers to pinch the tube off to constrict flow, and I also put the tube pointed up to the right of my head using my right hand to avoid beer dripping all over my chest/legs. This makes the drinking hand my right hand.

- When drinking boots I point the toe of the boot to the right and place my right hand on the sole of the boot with my left up by my mouth. Since the right hand is doing the tipping back of the boot my drinking hand is my right hand.

This probably doesn't cover all situations, and I deleted the response my email got and can't remember what people said, but I'd love to hear what other people think about this complex concept. It wasted at least a half hour of my time at work yesterday, so hopefully it does something similar for you.

KofC Waterslide Fun Time Plans

I was thinking, we should really plan a sweet trip. Where should we go? Australia? Brazil? Nauru? But those places are all very expensive to get to. So I figured it out and there is one place that is better than all of these exotic locations and is in the geographical center of where the majority of us live (Sorry Adeclipes).

Where is this magical place you ask? Well it is Wisconsin Dells of course.

Here is what I am thinking. We go to Noah's Ark on Saturday June 14th and then stay at the Raintree Resort across the street from Noah's Ark that night. The next day we take in some high speed Go-Karts and maybe an haunted house. And then after we are all tuckered out we go back to our lives with memories that will last a life time.

For those of you who aren't familiar I will give you some information on the best rides Noah has to offer.

Time Warp – Billed as the world's largest bowl ride. It's a pitch black descent in 4 person tube and then goes into a strobe light filled bowl where you swoosh around until you drop through the middle, just as the next group of 4 comes flying down. The initial drop is the best but the whole thing is entertaining.

Black Anaconda – Billed as the longest water coaster in the United States at over 1/4 of a mile long. It's pretty fun, my sisters and brother-in-laws liked it a lot. You go over 30 mph at one point and you go up and down the slide powered by water jets. I am not a huge fan of water coasters though, I like gravity to do the work. Josey and SB, it's kind of like the beginning of the tube rides that shoot you up and down on the way to the lazy river.

Sting Ray – This ride is the most under rated in my opinion. It consists of two large halfpipes about 5 stories tall and who go down in tubes of 1 or 2. The initial drop is the best part as you go almost vertical back and forth until you slow down at the bottom of the halfpipe. Since there are 2 of them and it's fairly quick the lines goes fast.

Point Of No Return – Two 10-story-tall speedslides that take riders three to five seconds to descend. This is your classic speed slide, but the tallest I have ever ridden. You go over 40 mph. JW and SB, it's like the abyss but taller, but also not dark. It has timers at the end so I can continue my domination over you.

Congo Bongo – Large 4 person raft ride, that wouldn't be fun except that you often try to flip the raft on the turns.

Big Kahuna – Large wave pool, one of the largest wave pools in Wisconsin Dells. Always a good time to knock each other of rafts in 10 ft waves.

Adventure River – Not to be confused with the "Endless River" this one features waterfalls and rapids but not as cool as the one at Atlantis unfortunately.

The Plunge – One of my favorites for sure, two side-by-side speed slides with a couple bumps. But on these you go down head first on like a rubber tobaggon thing.

Paradise Lagoon – An activity pool featuring slides and zip-lines. It doesn't sound that cool, but there are several raft crossing areas where you can dominate little kids and water slides that drop you a few feet above the water. It's also fun to watch people fall off the zip-lines on their faces.

Miniature Golf – Miniature golf course that is included in the price of admission.

There are of course dozens of other slides, bumper boats, a ride similar to the Wave at Valley Fair and of course a bunch of Arcades.

I think we should leave MN/Chicago early in the morning to get to the Waterpark around 9-10am. That means SB/Josey/Pablito/Tilla/Dammer would need to be up by about 6am as it is exactly a 3 hr drive to the Waterpark Capital of the World.

I would also need to leave at 6am as it is exactly 3 hr from Chicago to the Dells. The best part is you can come and go from the park as you wish, and since we would be there early we can park right next to the best water slides. This means we can bring our own food and drinks (emphasis on drinks), which will save us money and increase our level of fun.

Another real good thing about the dells, is checking out the mullets and all around dirties. It is awesome.

The hotel is about 100 bucks a night, so that split up would be like 25/person if we had 4 to a room. The price of admission to Noah's isn't super cheap (about 30 bucks) but it's definitely worth it. Anyone else can come, if Rose Bear wants to be scared of water slides, or if Tilla's mysterious fiancee. The Knights of Cydonia don't exclude.

I already ordered the tickets and got 2 hotel rooms so we are set to go. I also got a round trip ticket from Dallas to Chicago for Adeclipse. Just send me the money.

No, but for real, anyone else down? I know it's an awfully long time in advance but I am already getting excited just thinking about it (and Josey's tan).

Wednesday's List of Random Stuff

Here are a few links/articles to get you through hump day.

- Has anyone been reading/watching about the 16 year old Australian kid who threw the huge party? If not check out the interview with him here. He became very popular after this and appeared on several radio shows. However, during the cleanup they found a video from the party and he is now facing Child Pornography charges. (The Link does not go to Child Porn, it goes to the Reuters article about his arrest.

- Article about Rock Band on CNN.com It's not a great one but it's funny that it's on CNN.

- Master Chief was not going to be the main character in the now postponed Halo Movie.

- Does any other KofC members watch Lost? Have you checked out Find815.com yet? It's good.

- What is your opinion on Halo Wars? Here is some cool concept art/wallpapers.

- I found this "Ten Golden Rules of Online Gaming" at Destructoid.com and instead of just linking to it I decided to post it here for two reasons. A) I don't have much to say today and B) no one seems to click on the links. (Besides Puyo, but then he says it's old news and calls me a noob.) The actual post at Destructoid can be found here.

People have been hunched over their PCs, firing rockets into the faces of their friends since Doom. The ability to play a game against real human opponents via a network changed the face of the industry and helped shape the scene we are now a part of. Over the years, we have seen the world's largest network, the Internet, expand to phenomenal heights and with it, gaming too has grown in ways that were once never thought possible.

Gaming over the Internet is now a major part of the hobby we all hold dear, and as titles like Halo rose to bring more and more mainstream attention to multinational fragests, we have seen online gaming become one of the most integral facets of the industry. With mainstream attention, it has also brought with an influx of new, fresh-faced gamers who have logged on with wanton abandon, unwitting of the rules that we have held dear as digital war veterans for millenias untold. At least outside of the PC universe, online gaming is full of people who perhaps do not understand the etiquette and courtesy that comes with the territory.

For these people, Destructoid has the answer. If your copy of Halo just hit your mailbox, or even more urgently, if you started playing online years ago and have never even been through basic training, this is the guide for you. Check out the list to finally learn how to be an online gamer with these crucial rules. A doorway into a world of elite playing pleasure is yours for the opening.

1: Online gaming is serious business:
So, you finally got your game hooked up and are ready to play. Now, you may be forgiven for thinking that online gaming is about having fun. You are very wrong and you will learn this in due time. Because we gamers are too physically weak to pick random fights in bars, we must assert our alpha male dominance another way -- by twiddling our fingers around on buttons until virtual representations of people we don't know simulate death.

This is your life now, and you are connected, physically and emotionally, to your in-game avatar. When they frag you, do you not bleed? Well, no you don't but that's not the point. You will mourn him for every second of that respawn countdown. His digital death just killed a little piece of you, and you will avenge with the fury of a thousand angry Gods.

In team games, if you are losing, remember to berate your teammates and tell them how much they suck. You won't be making a fool out of yourself for ordering them around and reminding them that your side is losing and nobody's helping you win. Also, you must use words like "alpha," all the time, just like you're a real army man!

2: Noobs are scum:
People who are new to a particular game are terrible vermin who you should not fraternise with. These subhumans are known as noobs and they are the pariahs of online gaming. You, however, were never a noob. You were playing games online before the Internet was even invented. In fact, you're so awesome that you were playing Dizzy the Egg team deathmatches on your Commodore 64.

Make sure to check out the stats of anybody in a game with you. If they have not been playing for long, then you must hurl insults at them because they are lesser human beings. Laugh cruelly if noobs are your opponents, and grimace loudly if they are on your team.

Also, the term noob has such power that if you dislike someone's actions in a game, you can say it to them as well. Obviously, displeasing you is deadly enough to make them forget all their prior gaming experience and they actually revert back into children.

3: If a feature in a game is popular/effective, it is cheap:
Be it the chainsaw in Gears of War, or snipers in any FPS ever made, there are a number of cool features and tactics in games that people not only find enjoyable to use, but are often highly effective methods of securing victory -- never use them. If you do so, you are cheap and will become a noob. You are a hardcore gamer now, which means you only use shotguns or anything else that's really boring. You hate all that is popular, and if you see anybody utilising the best/more useful features of a game, you are to get rid of them immediately.

If these pukes were good at the game like you, they wouldn't need to rely on such cheap tactics, would they? They'd be like you, running around with the shotgun, not having fun and despising everything everyone else is doing. The fact that they have killed you so many times is proof of how bad they are at playing.

4: If anything kills you at all, it is cheap:
Like the above rule, but applied to every potential threat in a game. If someone shoots you to death using nothing but a pistol and with his eyes closed, he is being cheap. Cheap is one of the most brutal insults after noob, and anybody who hears it will feel worse about the fact they are winning ten to zero. It's a hollow victory, because they are so cheap.

5: If you are losing, it is because of lag:
Following on from the cheapness laws, you will soon get to learn that nothing is ever your fault when it comes to gaming. Lag is a process whereby everyone in the game becomes better than you thanks to the Internet helping them become cheap. The Internet does this a lot, but never affects the enemies you kill yourself, because you have skills.

Nearly every death you ever suffer in a game will be due to lag of some kind. The Internet hates you that much, even though you are so good.

6: If you are losing badly, it is because they are hacking:
Losing a little is one thing, that's just lag conspiring to keep your ownage levels down, but lag can only help the noobs cheaply beat you so much. If you are losing to such a point where not even your lag-pwning skill seems to be making a difference, well there's only one solution, and it's not that they are better than you -- it's that they are hacking.

People who appear to be doing a lot of killing and not much of being killed are hackers, plain and simple. There is no way they're that good without cheating. Re-assure your team (after calling them worthless) that the enemy is clearly powered by nefarious undertakings and you are being penalized for your wholesome and pure ways. Then remember to say alpha.

7: Everyone is gay:
Before the Internet was invented, gay people were those in society who were attracted physically and emotionally to members of the same gender. Since the Internet, everyone and everything is gay. From the gun they use to kill you, to the voice they use to communicate with you, it is all gay, gay, gay. Lag is gay, snipers are gay, noobs are gay, people from other countries are gay, the countries they come from are gay, the ocean the country is surrounded by is gay, the fish in the ocean are gay, all sealife is gay, life is gay, gays are gay, gay gay gay. Gay.

Using the same one-syllable word to describe everything you don't like might not be an indicator of a varied vocabulary, but who cares? Words are gay.

8: Singing is awesome:
Communicating via a headset is great because it lets gamers sing, and that is one of the only reasons we buy headsets. In fact, some people are known to log into servers just to hear poor quality, nasal renditions of the latest "phat tracks." One of the most original and beloved songs to sing is anything done by Rick Astley.

Try to sing as loudly and obnoxiously as you can into your headset before, during and after a game, only stopping when you need to step away from the mic to breathe. Everybody will be impressed and will want to play with you again. In fact, you're so great at singing that the only reason you're not on Broadway right now is that show business is full of lag.

If you lack the raw sexual magnetism and confidence that is required to sing during a game, you can always hold the microphone up to some speakers and play your favorite tunes for everybody. Your fellow gamers really care what your musical interests are and will applaud your tasteful selection of tracks.

9: Calling people naggers is both original and hilarious:
Racism online is bad, which is a shame because deep down everybody knows it's actually awesome. There is, however, a really witty workaround that allows you to say racist words while not actually saying them. Remember that episode of South Park where Randy believed that the missing letter in "n - ggers" was an I? Then he said the full word and everyone was shocked because it was actually naggers and not that word? Well, here's a pro tip -- nobody has EVER thought of calling people naggers online. You are going to be so edgy if you capitalize on this opportunity.

Do it all the time and your popularity will skyrocket.

10: Team members who score are kill stealers:
Kill stealing is one of the most abhorrent and despicable crimes ever committed, and is even listed in some modern Bibles as the eighth deadly sin. Every opponent is a victim waiting to die by your hand alone, and if anybody dares shoot them before you, they are a kill stealer. Only you may have the glory of the kill, and woe betide anybody caught shooting at the same target as you. If they get the win, they clearly stole your kill.

Even if you and a team member are on opposite sides of the game map, they kill stole. Obviously they did. Probably thanks to a hack.

Just remember, of course, that you are not a kill stealer. You are merely an opportunist. Besides which, since all the enemies are your personal fodder anyway, you're taking nothing away from the meat puppets who are only there to be noobs and bring down your score by sucking.

These are the ten golden rules of online gaming. There are of course plenty of other important laws, but this should be everything you need to get started off on the right footing. First impressions are crucial, and with these ten rules in mind, you will always impress.

Good luck pwning, my fellow online warriors. May noobs fall at your feet and your sword cut through the mists of lag forevermore.

Booze: the KofC's Official Beverage Recommendation

By DammerWillEatU

Seeing as I'm bored at work I think it's time to revisit the clan's health as the holidays arrive and you come into contact with some possibly very disgusting and sickly relatives. As you may remember, a while back we discussed on these very pages the merits of adding the intake of a multi-vitamin to your routine. This may boost the immune system, but what about those quick fixes we sometimes need to clean out the system or provide an instant feel-good moment? Some of you (UnkyDubhawg) may mock what I'm about to present to you, but rest assured most of you will probably agree.

Beer, beer the magical food, the more you drink the more you...die? As Lee Corso would say, "Not so fast my friend!". I've always been a proponent of the healing powers of alcohol, but it is beginning to look like the rest of the world is jumping on the body-building booze bandwagon, and with alliteration like that who wouldn't be!? Seriously though folks, we've all witnessed the amazing and various powers of booze. It's been known to increase speed, strength, intelligence, and even looks.

Look deep into the recesses of your booze-soaked brain and think about some of your greatest drinking accomplishments. Have you ever grinded on a chick at the local club before? Not sober! Have you ever thrown booze bottles onto the street? They go a lot farther when you're blitzed don't they. Who here plays Halo? Oh you all do? Ok then you all know about the "perfect Halo state", that magical place where your BAC is just right and you focus so intently on playing that every decision you make and every shot you take...is just right for the situation.

Now I've run many miles in my life, and I can tell you that if I'm in a short sprint contest, I want to be drunk. Have you ever felt faster than when you're sloshed? Personal experience of running back to my dorm from the bar late on a Saturday night tells me that SB is the fastest man alive.......when drunk. Sprinting is not the only way to run that benefits from booze though, endurance is also greatly increased if you're going slow enough. My Sunday long runs with the cross country team sucked regardless of whether I was sober or not, but at least if I was still drunk I didn't feel the first 5 miles. And sometimes I was even drunk enough that I couldn't get out of bed to go (chalk one up for getting the recommended amount of sleep). I can think of a certain clan member (Unky Eternal) that has no problem going on long drunken excursions, much like this fellow. How tiring would that have been sober? Plus, who here has had a drink or two to get over a hangover? Yeah that's right, IB Profin and alcohol, a hangover's worst enemy...or is it this? (my personal thinking is that if you combined that with a multivitamin you would have a cure for almost any ailment)

Enough about the magical powers though, what about the health benefits I first mentioned? Well obviously if you're running faster and longer you will increase your physical health. If you're grinding on chicks you will have a greater chance of contributing to healthier relationships with the opposite sex (not necessarily the same sex however), thus resulting in a more complete and healthy mental disposition. Now thanks to a new study, you should also know that beers defined as a stout, not a lager, work to decrease your chance of having a heart attack by reducing your bloods ability to clot. Unfortunately for us, the KofC drinks heavily of the latter. This isn't all that discouraging however, considering that the KofC's top beers of choice (Coors, Busch, Keystone) placed well in a recent Consumer Report study. Some of us at the KofC do enjoy a nice glass of red wine anyway, whos health benefits have been proven time and time again.

What is the bottom line here folks? It's quite simple. DRINK YOUR BOOZE! And don't worry about those folks that say you're killing your brain cells. There's proof that they come back anyway, and at the rates they're talking it may be best to live the rollercoaster lifestyle the KofC is known for.

Delicious plum pudding...

Well, not exactly. However, my cluster did buy not one, not two, but 5 BOTTLES OF EVERCLEAR! Last night, in the midst of studying for 2 tests today, my cluster got a start on what will be a wonderful wop. We added in the alcohol and fruit bites (canteloupe, pears, strawberries, cherries (not you, Cherry), apples, and oranges), and later today we will add in the fruit punch concentrate. I cannot wait. So come one, come all to what will surely be an enjoyable night. Who knows, you might even get treated to the luxurious accommodations of Winneshiek Hospital!
