Halloween Plans and Other Bits of Tid

So what are everyone's Halloween plans? Any good costumes? DanaWillEatU and I will be attending a Halloween gathering with fellow work friends at Tilla1234's abode. I plan on using something mysteriously called "black vodka" to mix unnatural looking, scary, and ultimately very alcoholic drinks that hopefully more than just myself and Tilla will consume. DanaWillEatU and I will be in costume as Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, and this spud plans to be the lead singer of the greatest Halloween Rock Band impromptu musical group ever, so long as Bon Jovi and Journey are saved for last and no one tries to kill my singing buzz.

Also, I would like to make note that there is a Daymonster imposter roaming the streets in my town. Next chance I get I will post a picture for all to see. I saw him at church the last two weekends (which was a clear indicator of imposterism and not full fledged cloning). I also found out this week that my supervisor at work frequented the Broiler while growing up. We discussed the merits of greasy food conquering hangovers, and agreed hollandaise sauce is a big help.

I played Halo 3 for the first time in probably a year with Tilla1234 last weekend while cursing Drew Brees ruining my fantasy football hopes and dreams (I ended up winning the week anyway, thanks Eli and Knowshon). Tilla had McFadden, which made me want to hit him with my roller. On another football note, I was voted MVP of our touch football league at work last night. I took over for quarterback 3 games into the season and won 2 of the last 4 (we were previously winless). Yesterday I threw TD passes of 15, 20, 30, 35, and 40 (mostly RAC) in my best performance yet. Reminds me of losing to SB and Puyo over and over on the IM fields, dealing with Chode as a receiver and my own defensive incompetencies.

Lastly, a bowling league update, our team name this year is "Smurf Yeah!" and we again had to find a new team member as our 3rd left work. Ironically, 3 weeks into the season our replacement announced his departure (that's 3 members in 4 years, anyone willing to drive on Thursdays and join my team?). Tonight I posted a 119, 171, and 178. My average so far is a 135, 15 pins lower than normal. I'm trying a new technique to try to generate higher revs on my ball and increase consistency, however the early goings aren't going so well (excluding my last two games tonight which I hope to continue forward). On a related note, the local lanes have added Schell Dark to their list of tap brews, which is comforting since it's a favorite of mine.

I hope to find time in November to visit the clubhouse, however half the weekends are spoken for already so it may be hard.

Happy Halloween!

Weekend Recap

Hello KofC,

It's been a real long time since I actually posted a regular post. I would say arguably my last "real" post was December 5th. Those were the good old days. Christmas was still coming up and it wasn't -30 degrees.

Pablito and SB should be at the airport right now waiting for their flight. And I am at work, like a sucker. Feeling pretty sick.

As many of you know Pablito and SB came for the weekend on Saturday afternoon. I picked them up at the airport after a short delay and we went and got pizza at Pete's Pizza.

With both SB and myself feeling pretty sick, we sucked it up and joined some people on a Bar Golf tour. For those of you not familiar with Bar Golf, there are 9 bars on a pub/bar tour. Each one represents a hole and each one has a par. A par 4 is one drink/beer, par 5 is two drinks/beers. You can get birdies, eagles and hole-in-ones by drinking more drinks, shots, drop shots/bombs or combinations of all of them. We joined the group on the third hole, but quickly made up ground and arguably we could have made a case for the win or at least a sudden death playoff.

Amongst a lot of people dressed in golf apparel, we had a good time. One lady came over to us and asked what three good looking dudes were doing talking to each other and not her and her two friends. We politely played along as we might mosey our way over there, but then quickly walked the other way as she went back to report the news to her lonely friends. While the third female was obstructed from view, the two we could see (including the ballsy one who talked to us), were not quite up to our impossibly high standards. The ballsy one I referred too might have actually had balls. Her Adams apple was quite pronounced.

We found a couple new friends and convinced them to play credit card roulette for the next round of hole-in-one inducing irish car bombs. Luckily, each new member of our group got stuck with the bill. No funny business was used, third parties held the cards and the new members got to choose. Sometimes the drinking gods smile down on you.

We ended our night hailing a cab back to my place while a drunk homophob tried to fight us. Good times. We played castle crashers and braid for a while. Which btw, I recommend braid to all KofC members.

The next day we went to a breakfast place called Flat Top. Ate some food, and then played soccer. It was the playoffs and the two ringers I brought in couldn't do shit. Partially due to hangovers? Maybe. But either way my dreams of my soccer team finally winning a game was shattered.

Hungover and sick, we watched football and shawshank redemption for the rest of the night.

Yesterday we went to Notorious. Pablito and I liked it. SB thought it was boring. We then went to ESPN zone for dinner, and then quickly dropped about 60 bucks at the arcade. All throwing out our arms and schooling young children in hockey. After that we went to Lucky Strike, where we played pool and bowled.

Pablito won a very close bowling competition that netted him an extra 40 dollars on the night.

We came back and harassed people on PlayStation Home for a while. The non-workers (SB and Pablito) polished off the night with a boot each.

Some take aways from the weekend:
- Drinking slows down a recovery from sickness.
- Pablito is unstoppable at credit card roulette. (0 losses/6 games)
- SB is pretty good at credit card roulette. (1 loss/6 games)
- I am down right terrible at cc roulette (3 losses/6 games)
- PlayStation Home is fun for only one thing. Cock blocking 43 yr old UPS mechanic pedophiles.
- Obama is now the president of the United States. No matter how you feel about that, you have to admit the car trailing his new limo is down right awesome.

I'll be in MN, not this weekend, but next weekend. Anyone have any plans on Friday the 30th?

Thoughts on the Death of Summer and Birth of Autumn

Well it's been official for a little while now, but it didn't finally sink in to me until this last weekend. The summer is over. Does anyone else feel like they didn't get all that they wanted out of their summer? I didn't go tubing once, which is super sad because I love tubing. I didn't go mini-golfing at the place two blocks away from me. I went actual golfing probably 6 times, which isn't too bad, but it didn't end up being enough to justify buying a new set of Pings. Maybe that will be on a wishlist for Christmas. The nice thing about Pings is that they are customizable and they have a cool website to do the sizing for you. Of course, it's better to have the sizing done by a golf pro, but at the least if you think it can be better the clubheads can be adjusted as many times as needed. I went fishing two times, neither of which was all that productive. So this made me think, what the hell did I do with my summer? Well, I played a lot of disc golf so I can't feel too bad about that. I probably went 10 - 15 times, at an average of 4 - 5 beers per time. I took a couple Saturdays to go to a city park with some coworkers to grill food, drink beer, and play bocce, horseshoes, softball, lawn golf, etc. I went to one Twin's game and watched Baker pitch a two-hit loss. I started running routinely and have lowered my weight to about 195, a ten pound drop in probably 3 months time. I also went to a couple parties in various places, and took a trip to Colorado with DanaWillEatU. Oh yeah we got an apartment together so I suppose that's a plus.

So as you can tell, the summer wasn't all that exciting. At least there's room for improvement though right? I mean, bowling league started last week and I went 105-166-212 for my first series. I switched my flex day to Friday so that Thursday night bowling can turn into Thursday night bowling and happy hour. I spent this last weekend in Ames, Iowa watching the Iowa State Cyclones almost beat Kansas. Now, I'm an Iowa fan so I don't know why I've been to an ISU game each of the last two seasons, but in either case last year was Oklahoma and that was almost an upset so I figure I've probably seen the two best games of the respective seasons. I've decided to go watch some curling matches (if that's what you call them) here in town when the season starts to see if that's a sport worth dabbling in. Pheasant season back home will start and I'll probably try to shoot me a few over Thanksgiving. In any case, I'm wondering what the Knights have planned for the fall and if anybody has anything exciting worth talking about...anyone?

Odds and ends:
- I remembered this video the other day and started to laugh to myself.
- The Vikings are beating the Saints right now, I'm fully expecting a collapse but who knows.
- SB after your last mowing attempt you should probably get one of these.
- If the company I work for wasn't lame, I'd be buying this stuff constantly.
