This Weekend:
So as some of you know, I am making my way to Minnesota this weekend and I cleared my schedule for Saturday night. I know you guys just had a major Boozeapalooza party and are in the planning stages of a Halloween party or something, but I will be in town and I would like to hang out with as many of you as possible.
SB, I will most likely be spending the night at the KofC Clubhouse. Hopefully on a couch and not freezing my ass off under the beer pong table with my hands inside my sleeves, or on a random persons porch, or in the back of Dammer's truck.
Josey, I want to celebrate another law school victory with you, and possibly get in an argument.
Pablito, we only have so much time together before you become are first member to actually move abroad for real. Unky, Malta doesn't count.
Video:
Also, when I worked at CareerBuilder for a very short and un-enjoyable time, this dude was kind of my boss.
"That Timberlake Kid" not Christian Laettner.
Video 2:
Check out Soulja Boy talking about how he is the best at Halo 3. Sweet K/D ratio of .91.
Football:
Why are the Vikes so bad? 12 points against the Lions? Seriously?
Thank God the Bears lost, one of the best ends to a game I have seen in a long time.
Questions:
Does anyone play video games anymore? Puyo, how is the 2009 Pontiac G8 GT?

5 friends uncensored
I was told to send this to 5 friends, and since I don't have any friends I thought I would just post it on here.
Some of it is funny, and it mentions Halo.

Great Marketing... or the GREATEST Marketing.
EA used to be awesome back when it was called Electronic Arts. Then it got shitty and became the easy target for core gamers to mock. "All their games suck, they never come out with anything cool or inventive" was the usual hatred for EA.
But recently if you look at what they are doing, they are probably actually trying more new things than anyone other game studio. From Mirror's Edge (which looks awesome), to Skate and finally, Spore. EA is actually coming out with some pretty cool stuff.
Now some of you might be saying, Eff EA, all they do is come up with a new version every year of [Insert Sport Here] and they don't make any improvements they just update the roster. We'll that maybe true for the most part but it's got to be pretty hard to revolutionize a game every year especially when it's on the console that you have been using for the past few years. The other option would be for there to not be a new game every year and only when they come out with something really new, but that wouldn't go over well with anyone either.
And come to think of it, sports game are no different than fighting games. They come out with the same exact game but they add one tiny new fight mode and some special character from a different series altogether. And they get less shit than the makers of the sport games. What's up with that?
Anyways that was a long introduction to the following two videos. Watch the first one first (Imagine that.) and the second one second. EA gets it.

KofC Video Series: Self Defense
For all of use that aren't willing to actively choke slam someone in an alley, I give you this, self defense techniques for the KofC member. My favorite is the "Attacks from the Guard" and "If we are going to fight let me take of my glasses."

Holy Fucking Shit! A Rainbow Conspiracy
I have thought this for sometime now. Remember when we were younger and rainbows didn't exist? Why are they all over the place now? Everywhere I go there's a fucking rainbow!
Haarp (obviously not her real name, to avoid persecution) has made the above video proving that government is behind this phenomena. Some people think it's the fluoride in the water system others think it's some sort of ground up Lucky Charm power poured into the water supply similar to the villain's plan in Batman Begins.
As for the reason why? No one knows for sure, but it's hypothesized that the government is creating a rainbow, traveling to the end of said rainbow and collecting the pot of gold to fund the war in Iraq. We must get to the bottom of this!

Squatting Bear is in the Money
Well I have only a few things to share with you. One is something that many of you know and that Pete has made it to day 4 of the WSOP and is now in the money. This means that he is the first member of the KofC to cash at the Main Event. So now we can say we are a competitive Video Game, Drinking (Josey), Poker (SB) and Eating (Daymonster & Dammer?) clan.
I think this goes without saying from all of us but, way to go Squatting Bear. All of us are proud of you. Except ShoesMcGee. I don't think he wants you to win. But he is new.
Speaking of eating, I am now no longer in the obese range, I am now a proud overweight person. I am on the high end of overweight but at least I am not grotesquely fat anymore (at least according to my BMI) So that's good. I am also growing a goatee, so we will see how that goes. So far, not so well.
And finally there is one video I think everyone needs to watch. I don't care if you can't watch youtube videos at work. You have to do it.
Well, that's about all I have for you today. It's Friday and I am taking Monday and Tuesday off so I am feeling pretty good today.
Dammer, how is your diet going? Also I agree, Shoes do you have a girlfriend? What's her name? We need to come up with the modified name.

Sex and Video Games
Besides the fact that his voice gets a little annoying at the end, I think this professor does a great job of explaining the brief history of sex in video games as well as what the future brings for the genre.
Also, you can talk about the Indy movie now.

I Finally Got Around to It
So remember a long time ago when I was asking for screenshots so that I could put together a line rider video? Well I finally got around to semi-finishing the damn thing. Apologies to Adeclipse and the Unkys, you didn't get into the video. I got too tired of collecting screenshots and editing. Tilla I forgot to put your name in the credits for capturing the Line Rider action with your computer, so I'll put it here and then you won't feel left out:

For heightened viewing, try to put yourself back in the context of the blog's content about 5 months ago. Enjoy everyone!

To Funny To Not Share
Well, except this of course:
Other GTA Stuff Info Dump:
- Google Maps has a GTA map where can people can put easter eggs, missions and locations and you can do everything just like in regular Google maps, except no satellite images... yet.
- Adam Sessler from X-Play and other various ZDTV and G4TV fame talks to NPR about Grand Theft Auto IV on Talk of the Nation.... and you-know-who calls in. Recordings of the program can be found here. Make sure you listen to it all the way to the end.
- A funny clip and some other information about the Media Universe of GTA IV.
Quick 3 Part Rant:
Nothing pisses me off more than people that are completely oblivious to the other human beings around them. Three things that really piss me off that have a common theme with people on the right and left. Confused? Well you will see what I mean.
Number One: Morons that drive in the left lane. If it's a two lane highway/interstate don't drive in the left lane. Move over to the right unless you are passing someone. If you are constantly passing people 1/2 mph faster than the person on the right, and you see someone going faster than you coming up behind you, you should move over to the right as soon as you get by them. And if you are feeling generous speed up enough to pass them in the next few miles. Just because you are going 72 in a 70mph zone does not mean you can "drive in the fast lane."
Second, people that fucking stand on the escalators, either in the middle or on the left side. Unless you have luggage, are pregnant or old, or a combination of the three you should probably just take the 3 steps it takes to get up the escalator anyway. But when 300 people are trying to get to work before the clock strikes nine you should probably at least move to the right side so people can pass you. How unaware do you have to be when you see a line of people behind when there is nothing but empty steps ahead of you. (This obviously only applies when it's a very busy escalator)
Third, move your ass to the inside of the seat on public transportation (could be the left or right side depending on what side of the bus/train you are on). It's not the end of the world to sit with someone on the train. It's going to happen. You can't try to avoid eye contact for the entire ride but instead, just move your fat ass to the inside so the elderly woman can sit down.
God damn, I am so angry right now. Thank god it's Friday. Anyone have any plans?

Welcome Back
Hey everybody, it's Monday morning and I am ridiculously tired. After going to Cub Foods at like 5 in the morning on Friday I never recovered any sleep all weekend. I had a great time Friday night and I wish there could have been more KofCers in attendance. But seeing Eternal and SB was a good start.
Also, my sister, who has not bowled more than 5 times in her life, bowled a 189 on Saturday night, in the 7th frame she had this as her score: X / X X X X X. I was impressed. Dammer, Tilla, just out of curiosity, what's your average score?
It's been over 33 days since I last saw my beautiful black xbox. And according to xbox.com, it's still at the service center, which means even if it left today it won't be at my apartment until after I move. So, looks like I will not be getting my xbox back. Bummer. Luckily my PSP and God of War is keeping me occupied for the time being.
Since I am so tired, I am not going to post too much. However I am interested in what everyone did for their Easter weekend, so please share with the rest of us in the comments section. Here are a couple links to get you through the day.
If you want to get your TV, Xbox, PS3, cell phone or any other device colored, this site seems to do a pretty good job of it. You can buy the system directly from them, or send in your old one. Play around with the different color schemes for the Xbox, it's pretty cool.
COD4 is no a MLG game and their pro ladder starts March 31st. Once I get my new internet I would be down to give it a whirl. If you ever wondered how the MLG online ladders work, here is the LONG rule list for the COD4 ladder.
Another Top 10 list from MLG, I haven't seen it yet since my internet is on the fritz, but I imagine it's gotta be pretty good. I guess this one isn't the high pros, it's made up of user submitted footage.
As far as Halo is concerned, the third map in the legendary pack will be revealed tomorrow and the actual maps go on sale on April 15th. Also the Heroic pack will become free late tonight (like 4am CT). That should be good as more people will have them now and we can start playing them on Team Slayer. [Read the latest Bungie update here.]
That's about it. I am bummed I didn't get to see some of you guys this weekend, we gotta plan something soon.

Top Ten Video Game Weapons of All-Time
A while back Gametrailers.com came up with a list of the ten best video game weapons of all time. For those of you who can't watch the video here is the list in reverse order.
10. Cerebral Bore - Turok Series
9. Chain Saw - Doom Series
8. Spread Gun - Contra Series
7. Rail Gun - Quake 2
6. Lap Top Gun - Perfect Dark Zero
5. Energy Sword - Halo Series
4. Ice Beam - Metroid
3. BFG - Doom Series
2. Red Turtle Shell - Mario Kart Series
1. Gravity Gun - Half Life 2
I like this list but it seems this is more of a list of interesting weapons from video games, not necessarily the "best" weapons. For me I would but the Halo 1 pistol as the best weapon from any video game, but hey, that's just me.

Rock Band Updates Galore
My enthusiasm for Rock Band has died a little bit in the last few weeks, probably due to the holidays and class starting up again. But in the last week or so, some very exciting news has come out. Let me share it with you.
It's good to see that the people at Harmonix have lived up to their promise of new songs being released every week. This honestly will keep this game going for a long time. But I was thinking: the average downloadable song goes somewhere between $0.99 and $2.99. Which isn't a terrible deal, until you start thinking about how the original disc had almost 60 songs on it (45 of the songs were ones you had heard of) that would put the original disc at about $120 of song prices alone. Obviously this is not the case, the game goes for the standard $59.99 without the peripherals. So would it be a better deal for us to wait until the next version of Rock Band with 60 more songs for 60 bucks or should we keep buying a few songs every week at a higher price. (Obviously, RB has said they won't be coming out with a new disc for a while, so it's a moot point, but I was wondering is this new way of getting songs better or worse?)
Anyways back to the fun stuff.
Like I said each week RB releases some new tracks. Sometimes you know exactly what song they are selling just by the title, other times it's not so obvious. Next time before you buy check out the Official Xbox Magazine online where they review each song right when it goes up on Live. Here is the review from the latest batch. [Update: Here are the three songs that come out tomorrow... Yay! Monkees!]
OXM doesn't just review the tracks, they also give you three free ones not available anywhere else in their latest issue. It's supposed to hit newsstands tomorrow, but I got mine on Friday night, not sure how. The three songs are Sprøde by Freezepop Rock Rebellion by Bang Shake by Count Zero. You may not know these songs but I instantly recognized Freezepop from my days of playing the grandfather of all rhythm games, Frequency. In fact Sprøde is a song from Amplitude, Frequency's sequel.
As we discussed in a previous post, the favorite instrument for some KofCer's is the drums. And while the drum set that accompanies RB is leaps and bounds above what previous peripherals were like, it's not quite as sweet as this.
This is a prototype of Ion Audio's new Rock Band drum set complete with beefier drums and some cymbals that was displayed at the Consumer Electronics Show this year. There is no release date for this set nor is there an approximate price. And while this set is pretty awesome, I am not sure if it will fit in my studio apartment. Source: Engaget Spanish.
In the meantime if you want a more realistic drum set and have an old real drum set lying around do what this guy did and turn it into a Rock Band set.
If playing the drums isn't your thing and you would like to make your guitar playing a little more realistic pick up this device from SoundTech to attach to your guitar. Here's how it works: The Windows XP and Mac compatible peripheral measures the notes being played on the guitar. After Ediface detects the real notes, it turns the sound into MIDI. With the above device, it then switches in any other alternative instrumentation much like a synthesizer. For RB/GH support, program in corresponding colors for notes — the first five frets of the top string, for example. [Source: Kotaku]
If playing the real guitar and real drums wasn't enough to make you feel like a real rocker, pick up this sweet add-on in June. GameStop's website accidentally put up the image of the Official Rock Band Stage Kit. The kit will include an interactive light and smoke stage show. I can't see how it could get much better than that... well, maybe this.
That's about it for this Monday morning.
One last non-Rock Band related video:
OMG, this is so sweet. Even though you don't go through a shark tank, this seems way better than any of the water slides at Atlantis. (Note: This could also be considered old news but I found it to be worthy of sharing, in case someone hasn't seen it yet.)
