Help Wanted.

My parents just got a new TV (Sharp 32" LCD HDTV) and they're having trouble syncing the audio and video (audio comes in before video). Would digital audio coaxial cables help this situation (it seems not, because the audio is not the problem) or do I need some sort of new video component cable? Right now the TV is hooked up to a cable box and I have a coax cable loading the video from the box to the TV and basic red/white audio cords loading the audio from the box to the TV. Is there anything I can do to solve this problem?

I looked it up online and stumbled across this pessimistic response. It's pretty interesting--should check it out.

UnkyTrip!

I'm very pleased we're going back to the blog. I liked the layout of the forum, but when it is only us talking this is just so much more user friendly.

Other than being extremely hungover and having to start and write a 15 page paper on 19th century banking that is due tomorrow, things are looking good for Warthog.

Last night I found out that I made it into the top band (insert "boner" joke here) and now I'll be able to go to Japan and China for 3 weeks after graduation this spring. You can see that I'm obviously looking forward to the GreatWallterSlide.

Forum vs Blog

I think people got confused on what I was trying to do when I posted the thing about Daymosnter's forum... Basically I was testing out the templates to see how it works for when I made MNBaseballForum.com

I never intended it to be a replacement for the blog. But at the same time if KofC members would have wanted something like that (like a KofC forum not Daymonsters) I would have been fine with it.

At least it would more likely for other people to be the creator of the content and not just a commenter. If I stop posting shit, people stop commenting and then I have nothing to read on the interwebs.

Basically what I am saying is... Josey where the fuck did you go? Stop being so self important and post some funny shit. Pablito, post something. Anything. Fan Fiction? SB, write another thing about Josey. Eternal make another vid. Dammer, keep up the good work on MNBaseballForum. I'm too lazy to keep writing, someone needs to help me out. I went over a year... WE went over a year... we can't let this fail now.

Monday

Couple things I have been thinking about over the weekend, in no particular order.

- The game Braid is really fun you should buy it on Xbox Live Arcade.

- The demo for Mirror's Edge was also really fun. You should down load it one Xbox Live.

- Anyone play Fallout 3 or Gears of War 2 yet? Are they good? Is it worth it?

- Still can't get Adobe CS3 to install and it's really pissing me off.

- Civ Rev was on sale at target for 35 bucks. You should buy if if you haven't yet. SB and Pablito play it frequently.

- I bought Little Big Planet for PS3. It's pretty fun, it was a lot more fun until they started deleting the user made levels for copyright infringement.

- Vikes Won, Steelers Lost, Bears Lost. Good day.

- What are peoples holiday plans? Who's going to be in the area and when? Hope everyone is doing well.

Sincerly,
Monster

Video Games or Wife?

Found on Digg today from http://www.burbia.com/node/2096

Guy
: What's normal?
Woman: Probably not all waking hours.
Guy: I don't....
Woman: You're right, once in a while you sit in front of the TV eating Doritos watching wrestling.
Guy: By whose standards is any behavior normal?
Woman: By my standards, that say if you don't cut down the gaming by say, 90%, I'm leaving you and taking the kids.
Guy: (pauses) Those are your standards.
Woman: Yea, and you've got a week to make them yours.

Ed Note: This one was submitted by a Burbia friend outside Boston. After laughing, we tried to confirm with him it actually happened. The friend said he was at the diner with his girlfriend, in a booth in front of the happy couple. He said the couple was loud, especially the woman who, he observed, was chain-drinking coffee and "kept waving her hands like a lunatic." One time, he said, "I had to slide over because she kept knocking the back of my head." Our friend said the stuff leading up to this particular moment was equally nutty -- something about the guy not listening to her, and the woman not hearing him and their arguing endlessly about the difference between "hearing" and "listening." Your basic nightmare.

By the time our guy could start scribbling what he was hearing (or listening to?) on his placemat, the arguing couple was now onto this particular thread. So, he scribbled it as best he could. We spoke to our friend's girlfriend who also said it happened. In fact, she said that, when they got home, she started giving our friend a hard time for his football obsession--not because he watched so much (which he did) but because, according to her, he never shut up about it, as if she really gave a crap about the details of his 8 different fantasy league teams' standings and player performances.

So, what did this guy choose? His gaming or his wife? Our eavesdropper said that, after ongoing arguing, the guy stood up, then sat down, then quickly stood up again -- and he said something along the lines of, "not fair," or "not right" and, in the same motion of stuffing some french fries in his mouth, stormed off.

In this spirit, we tee up this overheard. Some of us have been in similar siutations -- whether over gaming or TV watching or hanging with buddies or simply staring too long into space. Is this one totally authentic? We think so -- on the other hand, who knows. We like it, though; at worst it's representational and entertaining, so we say....enjoy and consider it a possible cautionary tale. And if you can figure out the difference between "hearing" and "listening" please let us know. (E.g., when we say, "I hear you," doesn't that mean I not only hear the sounds you're making but "get" what you're saying?) Also, why is it OK to "meditate" -- that's considered productive, socially acceptable -- but not OK to stare comfortably and happily (and blankly) into space? We think staring-into-space is highly underrated as a legitimate activity...of course, that's another conversation and conflict. ...overhear more

Happy Haloween, Knights!

How was everyone's Haloween? What did everyone end up being? Warthog and I bought windsuits from the local good will and went out as Team USA. Despite a few run ins with the police and failing to get into the bar saturday night because of long lines and pushy people, we had a pretty solid Haloween weekend.
Stories anyone?
