Computer Problems

Hey there guys,

Things have been a little slow here with Pablito in Australia or something, and SB making bills in Vegas, and then there is me with a broken computer.

So my computer just restarted by its self the other day and I haven't been able to get it working since. It kept restarting over and over again right after a blue screen flashed. I held F8 so I could turn off the automatic restart, so I could see the error. (I also tried restarting it in Safe Mode and all those other options like "Last known working configuration" but still no luck)

The error is "Unmountable Boot Volume." I don't have a XP CD because well I don't have what one might call a "legit" copy of XP. In my frustration I punched the DVD burners about 3 inches back into the case. Which consequently took a small chuck of skin out of my knuckles.

So, Dammer, Tilla, Loco, what are my options here? I think my hard drive is fucked as I somewhat recall this same thing happening to me a couple years ago and I replaced the hard drive. I figure I am about ready for a new computer anyway, since I built this one when I was a senior in high school. I only upgraded the hard drive and the RAM.

I figure this computer is dead, but I would like to be able to get all my music, videos and photoshops off of it before I toss it if at all possible. In addition I am looking for a decent Lappy for about 1300 or less. Any suggestions? All I ask is that it can run Dr. Daisy Pet Vet at full res.

Hey Daymont, I figured i'd just throw this out there, but your computer has tape holding it together. I'm pretty sure if you had bailing wire holding it together you wouldn't have to replace anything internally.

What are the specs on your new computer??? I've been trying to get back up to speed on all of the new technology so I like to hear what's available for what prices. And yes, I have been pretty busy with the whole getting married and all so I have been a no show on the blog and online for quite some time. I hope to boot up the old box this weekend for some all night action.

It's a Dell XPS laptop

250 gig HDD (although I just bought a 1TB external)
4gig of RAM
Intel Core 2 Duo
HDMI port

Things I'll never use
Remote
Webcam

Vista kinda blows but so far no problem with PS CS3, Dreamweaver, Office etc.

So far I really like it. The 9 cell battery lasted me over 6 hours the other day.

also, 15.4 inch screen. Slot loaded DVDR and it came with it's own case!

I just downloaded Opera 9.5, it's pretty sweet. I also just read about this new tool from Opera that looks pretty cool from a web developer standpoint.

That's cool,

I got the full CS3 Master collection and it has this thing called device central that lets you test all your websites from a huge list of devices.

And it shows you what it looks like on it.

Somebody post something/give me questions for rando.

Man, i'm bummed. My friend just got the new I-mac and with it he was able to buy the pro editting package for like 600 bucks. It came with Dvd studio pro, motion (my favorite program as of right now for editting), Compressor, and Final cut pro. They would normally be several thousand dollars.

Sweet new computer though daymont. I can't believe you would leave Vista on it though. What kind of Graphics card are you running in it?
