Possible Future KofC: Get To Know 'Em: FuggFirst/MCHolla

Some of you might have known that we have another wannabe KofC member. This man goes by many names, but many of you know him as MC. Here is his interview. As always say 'yay' or 'nay' in the comment section. Who are we kidding obviously we can join, we don't have high standards.

Gamertag: fuggfirst

Explain the significance of the Gamertag: i'm retarded when it comes to setting up anything w/ the internet, so I had a friend do it for me...naturally, he messed up what my gamertag should have been "fuggfrist"- as in fuck bill frist- a guy who tried to end online poker

Age: 21!

Location: NFLD

If you could go out drinking with any three people (alive, dead or video game characters) who would they be? Chris farley, Barry Badrinath, Cup [SB and Unky's older brother]

Favorite Video Game: Halo 1 and it's not even close

Halo 1, 2 or 3? 1 obv

Favorite Fast Food Restaurant: QB Club

Favorite non-alcoholic Drink: coke

Your greatest Halo memory/achievement: Senior year in HS, myself and some
friends played a ton of halo 1, every single night, any free time- we played. We found some juniors who wanted to challenge us, but would only play on their turf- so we ended up going to this kids house and they were given a big screen with comfy couches etc.. while we were given like a 18 in screen that was mounted up at an angle on the wall- and we were down 2-0
on ctf on bloodgulch so we decided to get intense and take off our shirts, so there were 4 guys with their shirts off staring up at a screen who made an incredible 2-0 ctf comeback out of their element- capped with a winning score by going thru the portal and flagwhipping 2 people who went through before getting a ride to cap the victory...

Your worst Halo memory: when I got put on academic probation due basically to playing halo too much.... just kidding- dont think i've ever really had a terrible halo memory

What kind/size of TV, Xbox, controller, setup do you use when you game: 50 in., 360 elite/reg xbox, hamburger controller for reg xbox (big controller)- def lights off and sound up so high that i think i'm master chief.

What are your strengths as a video game player? can play long hours and not tire too much

Weaknesses: I tilt and start saying things like "why won't you fucking die" or "die you fucking tard"- I don't play optimally at those points

Why did you buy a ps3 before an xbox360?
because I wanted something that I could play blu-ray's on, and my roommate mooches off what I buy and he really wanted it.

Do you like playing alone better than on a team. Why or why not?
That's a tough one. Obviously you have to make some sacrifices when your on a team, but the satisfaction of completing a ctf cap, executing a perfect bait-kill play with your teammates is highly rewarding, but there is something about being a loner that is fun and intense- so i'd have to say loner.

You like to gamble, relate stories about gambling and video games, specifically diddy kong: haha back in 3rd grade I ran into unky warthog. We hung out at school, and finally I asked him to come over and hang out at my house- and to bring his baseball cards. We play a couple of games of Diddy Kong, and I'm letting unky win by a large margin- I then ask, "(Unky), You're really good, do you want to wager some baseball cards on the next game". Unky happily obliges thinking he's the the real king Diddy Kong master puts up his coveted Chipper Jones $15 baseball card- I don't remember what i put up, but it doesn't matter- I could have put my soul up for sale or slavery for life...I wasn't going to lose. 5 min later I crushed him in dk, and swiped his ass clean! We've been best friends ever since... [Editor's note: You swiped his ass clean?]

How much do you miss party poker? omg you don't even know
Rank the croquet players from best to worst: Me, SB(excellent
cheater) Cup, Sven, Daymontser, Unky, Eric Perkins

Without using names talk about the person who owes you 800 bucks: Haha, I thought i was the shit sophomore year of college- had a lot of money, and just won a live mtt (Multi-table tournament) so I had like 1k on me. Villian knows that I won and hawks on me to loan him 800 bucks. "I have bills to pay, I will pay you back very soon" etc etc, naturally I'm a nice guy along with a retarded one and lent him the money- after countless facebook harassments about my money and phone calls I've given it up- he's out of GA, and in deep debt- worst investment ever.

A long time ago I left my poker chips at your house, when you returned them several months later there were 4 chips missing. Do you plan on replacing those? I believe they are down in my basement- so maybe one day!

A famous person once said, "all captains of basketball teams should be able to dunk." Can you dunk? On a good day.

How will your experience as captain of the basketball team benefit KofC? We will find out. [Editor's Note: Not so fast buddy, you're not in yet.]

Do you struggle to find time to play vids/poker during basketball season? Yes, very difficult, but I found that I can sacrifice studying to make sure that I get in a healthy dose of poker and vids.

Explain your affection for artificially flavored beers (Bud light lime and Summer Shandy) They just taste good.

Best boot time? 40 oz boot- 40 sec. Full boot- 2:15. [Editor's Note: Bullshit]

Anything else you want to add? Squatting bear is really good at rigging the deck at 5 card draw- don't play with him.

KofC Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Stats

Here is a stats update for COD4.  We have all improved a lot.

I've been especially impressed by Adeclipse.

I Want These Contacts

So I found this sweet article about the technology that will eventually give us a real life Heads Up Display... pretty sick.

Thought that probably deserved a full post... and I need to keep my rep up. Anyway good luck on the move Dammer and hope all you guys are doing well!

Quick Bit of News

This is more of an FYI for everyone, but I wanted to make sure it didn't get lost in the comments. In about a month or so I will be switching apartments. For those of you that have been to my place before, my new apartment is in the building across the street and to the right of mine, they're called "Westwood Apartments". DanaWillEatU moves in two weeks from now, and I'll have until two months from when I notify my current landpeoples (hopefully today) to move myself in also. It is apartment 202. SB, Josey, Pablito, Puyo, etc. are you guys around the 9th-10th of August? I've decided I need to come up.

Also, I bought Oregon Trail 5th Edition and am currently wagoning my way to the coast. It's nice to be able to play something on my comp when I'm watching the Twins beat the White Sox.

Bears Hunting Scientists and Other Humans

I came acorss this story today, it is really funny. Actually I wish I was one of the scientists, I know that sounds crazy but I would much rather be doing what their doing than at work. Read the story below that I copied and tell me if you disagree.

"In what is seriously the most terrifying news story we have ever read, 30 man-eating bears are currently holding a group of Russian geologists hostage at their remote survey site. The bears, reacting to a fish shortage, began their human-hunting rampage last week, when a massive brown bear killed two of the scientists. Officials said helicopters can't fly in bad weather, forcing the geologists to remain in camp with weapons ready as 10-foot-tall bears roam around outside. The Kamchatka brown bear (pictured) is one of the world's largest bear species, weighing nearly three quarters of a ton.A spokesman for the Emergency Situations Ministry said: "The people inside are scared by the invasion of bears. The bears are hungry -- for some reason there is not enough food for them this summer." An all-terrain vehicle is on its way to the camp, where its crew will await government approval to shoot the bears. While we feel sorry for both the starving bears and the terrified humans, we can't help but wonder if this story doesn't prove that Stephen Colbert was right all along.Want to see more bloodthirsty animals?"

Fat Princess Controversy

I was going to write a synopsis of the controversy including my take on it, but I am feeling lazy. So here is a really short description of the game. Ready? Go!

Okay, so there is this game that is getting released on PSN and was revealed at E3 called Fat Princess. It's a 32 player game that pits two teams against each other. You try to rescue your princess from the opposing teams castle. Sounds easy right? WRONG! The other team goes out to the forest and gets cake from the magical cake tree to bring to the princess. The more cake she eats the fatter she gets and the harder it is to get her out of the enemy's castle.

Not surprisingly there is some rumblings on the interwebs. Mostly by these two blogs, Feminist Gamers and Shakesville.

Both the comment sections on those posts are closed but you can get a handful of responses back and forth that make for good comedy. Mostly men calling the women fat, the women calling the men stupid and so forth.

Kotaku, Joystiq and PS3 Fanboy have the stories too. The comments on those are only the men calling the women fat, oh, and ugly.

There is one sensible post in this whole cluster-fuck. And that is this one, steamknight. so sensible I even posted a comment. (It's awaiting moderation though).

Funny Wii Fit Parody Video

Wii Fit Parody

Also, MC Holla wants to join the Ranks. SB, Unky, and others, send me some questions for MicHoller.

So I guess since no one wants to do anything fun. I'll bum it around here in Chicago.

Monday, July 21, 2008

This Weekend.

So, there was rumblings about a party this weekend. Where are we on that? I am debating driving to MN if it's happening or at least something is happening. I would leave Friday right after work and drive to SB's house probably getting in around 1am. And I would have to leave around 2-3pm on Sunday.

Would anybody be up for something on Saturday? Indoor waterpark? Valleyfair? Something? Strategic round-table discussion on the Beer website? Other business ideas?

I don't know, who would be around? Is the 15 hours of driving worth it? It's f-ing Monday morning, so I want some responses to get me through the day.

Your friend,
The Daymonster

P.S. This is pretty close to where Adeclipse lives. Probably.

P.P.S. Finally soccer is getting cool in the US.

UPDATE:
Meh. Nevermind.

Halo MMOFPS?

So I don't know if anyone has been paying attention to any of the stuff at E3 or anything on Bungie's website. But Bungie hinted at the fact that they were going to announce something pretty big the other day, but about 12 hours before they were going to announce it they had a note on their front page about how the publisher told them they couldn't. People were pissed, some thought it was all part of the reveal but they assured us it was not.

Turns out the publisher was Microsoft and essentially that since E3 was so lame they didn't want to reveal more stuff than they had to. They have no revealed that it is some sort of Halo game but not much more information than that. Speculation has been that it might be a game without Master Chief, it is also not Halo Wars, or the Peter Jackson project. Some think it might be a grittier Halo in a more COD4 style while a few others think it might be the first real MMOFPS.

Here is a video from a few years ago with a dude from Msoft working on an MMOFPS. Essentially you would be playing halo with thousands of other people. It sounds like it could be really cool.

Party

I think we should have a party next Saturday for a many reasons. First, SB is back from vegas. Second the maids come the following Monday. Third it can be sort of a late party for Unky's birthday, (happy birthday Unky). Fourth, if we plan it now Dammer and his gf have plenty of time to make arrangements to show up. Fifth, Tilla might actually show up. Sixth, I am sure Bill wants to party with us again, he really likes Daymonster, he told me. Finally, parties are sweet and everyone had a great time at the last one!

Lets make a decision on this ASAP so we can get the word out soon!

Happy Birthday Unky Warthog

As you have noticed, I try to give out Birthday wishes to member of KofC when I can remember (read when facebook reminds me). Again, apologies to SB and any other member who I have neglected.

Birthdays in general are pretty meaningless in my humble opinion. Except for those that fall on major milestones. 16: Drive. 18:Gamble and Pornography in most states. And of course 21: Gamble, Porn, Drink in all 50 states. Pretty much you can do what ever age restricted thing you want for the rest of your life. Except of course you can't rent a car without the big insurance charge and you can't get the senior citizens discount... yet.

Either way, that's one more person in the KofC that is of legal drinking age. Eternal are you there yet? Playboy, don't even have a guess at your age. Am I missing anyone?

What's going on KofC

I took today off so I won't be at the computer. I am on my way to Six Flags Great America. I am pretty pumped. What are you guys up to?

Squatting Bear is in the Money

Well I have only a few things to share with you. One is something that many of you know and that Pete has made it to day 4 of the WSOP and is now in the money. This means that he is the first member of the KofC to cash at the Main Event. So now we can say we are a competitive Video Game, Drinking (Josey), Poker (SB) and Eating (Daymonster & Dammer?) clan.

I think this goes without saying from all of us but, way to go Squatting Bear. All of us are proud of you. Except ShoesMcGee. I don't think he wants you to win. But he is new.

Speaking of eating, I am now no longer in the obese range, I am now a proud overweight person. I am on the high end of overweight but at least I am not grotesquely fat anymore (at least according to my BMI) So that's good. I am also growing a goatee, so we will see how that goes. So far, not so well.

And finally there is one video I think everyone needs to watch. I don't care if you can't watch youtube videos at work. You have to do it.

Well, that's about all I have for you today. It's Friday and I am taking Monday and Tuesday off so I am feeling pretty good today.

Dammer, how is your diet going? Also I agree, Shoes do you have a girlfriend? What's her name? We need to come up with the modified name.

Future KofC Get to Know 'Em: Rando/ShoesMcGee

For the people who were at the KofC Housewarming party, you might remember a lad by the name of "Rando", then again, you might not remember. Anywho, he came thinking it was a LAN party, but ended up staying for the festivities. Obviously once he met the group he wanted to join the ranks. I sent some questions a while ago and he finally got back with some answers. I will be the first to admit two things. 1) My questions are pretty terrible, it's actually quite difficult to ask interesting questions when you don't know anything about them. All I know is that he often goes to male strip clubs. (see below) This brings me to 2) I promise to stop using that picture of Josey, this is the last time I promise. I just didn't know what to do for the picture.

Here is the interview. If anyone has any better questions ask them in the comments section.

Name: Rando, Gamertag: ShoesMcGee

Age: 23

If you could go out drinking with any three people (alive, dead or video game characters) who would they be?
George S. Patton, Gordon Freeman and Walter Sobchak.

Favorite Non-Alcholic Drink?
Coke

Favorite Food?
Cheese Curds... Wisconsin has messed me up irreversibly.

1986 Chicago Bears... Superbowl shuffle, FUCK YEAH (Editor's Note: That was the 1985 Bears, unless you were talking about the 1986 Bears that lost in the NFC Divisional Playoff)
Actually, not huge into sports, but I watch the Twins and Vikings if they're on. (Editor's Note: As opposed to when they are not on?)

Favorite Video Game system?
SNES

Favorite Video Game?
I wouldn't know where to start... Fallout, FFVII, Halo, Chrono Trigger, Starcraft, Company of Heroes...Can't think of any one that stands out the most.

Which is the best, Halo, Halo 2 or Halo 3?
What is Halo 2, I haven't heard of that game? The first Halo is the best.

What is your favorite FPS shooter?
It is a toss-up between Half-Life for single player, and CoD4 for multiplayer.

What is your favorite Halo 3/COD4 weapon?
Halo: The butt of my gun.
COD4: Toss up between the P90 and the M14.

What is your favorite Halo 3/COD4 map?
Halo: The Pit
COD4: Crossfire

Halo 3 Game type:
Team Slayer

Your greatest Halo memory/achievement:
Hanging out with Locopuyo and some friends, on the original Halo, and figuring out how to get on top of the map on Sidewinder and capture the flag in not that much time.

Your worst Halo memory:
Realizing how much time we wasted just fucking around to do that.

What kind/size of TV, Xbox, controller, setup do you use when you game:
42" Samsung, XB360(whatever the first one that came out was that had the hard-drive, premium I think?) Wireless controller, 5.1 surround sound, one of those helmets with the straws on it.

What are your strengths as a video game player?
I have massive thumbs... seriously.... I think that is a strength.

Weaknesses:
Short attention span when I'm losing.

Since we really don't know you very well, what is one thing that we should know about you before you enter the elite group known as KofC?
If you're playing on Live with me after 7:00 pm, I'm probably drunk... so keep that in mind and things might make more sense.

That's it. I say he is in. It's not like we are being selective.

In other news: Good luck to Squatting Bear at the WSOP. Made it through day 2. Go! Go! Go!

Question: Windows Media Center

Does anyone use Windows Media Center with their Xbox 360? I was just dinking around with my laptop and I used the 360 to connect to my computer to stream video and music. It worked really well with my Harmony remote. I can stream NetFlix movies too.

My only complaint is that it seems pretty slow. Does anyone else use this? And if so is the slowness a factor for you as well?

(Pause for Puyo to call be a noob)

Hope everyone is having a good day. And no one wants to go to Wisconsin Dells. Tear. Come on there must be something that we can do. I don't get to see you guys enough. I am willing to do almost anything except Nordic Fest.

Monday, July 7, 2008

Seriously, read this and respond.

Well, I'm 24 now. Had a good weekend. Thanks to Unky Warthog and Pablito for the warm facebook wall messages. It meant a lot.

A few things:

I don't think I have turned on my Xbox/PS3/Wii in several weeks. I've been spending too much time outside. But anyway, I guess today is Bungie Day and they are giving away a remake of Chill Out (It's called cold storage) on Xbox Live today. Not sure if it's gonna be free forever so maybe you should download it today, just to be safe.

Twins are on ESPN tonight vs the Red Sox. I'm going to watch that, but listen to the radio broadcast as I cannot stand ESPN commentators.

A loooong time ago, I mentioned going to Wisconsin Dells. I think I said sometime around early June, good thing we didn't go as thats when the Housewarming party was and it's been really fucking cold until this week. Well, I still want to go, and I wanted to find out if anyone else was feeling it. I was thinking July 26 and 27th. No one has to miss work and it's pretty cheap. Come on, who is in?

SB will be back, it's less than 3 hours from, Decorah, Owatonna, Twin Cities, and Chicago.
