So it's Monday morning and I haven't posted much lately because I realized that no one really gives a shit about my insightful thoughts about, well, pretty much anything. But I am going to talk about some stuff I have been thinking about this weekend.
First, I want to establish the KofC video game swap system. I tried to pick up Gears of War the other day at Best Buy and they didn't have it. I think KofC members should list some of the games they have and we could mail them to each other to play for a bit. Even thought I know no one will ever do it (myself included) I thought it was worth a shot. Some one mail me GoW.
Here are the games I can think of off the top of my head. PSP and DS games not included.
Xbox 360
Halo 3
Rock Band
Rainbow Six Vegas 2
Assassins Creed
Call of Duty 4
Scene It
PS3
Warhawk
Tiger Woods 08
MLB The Show 08
Call of Duty 3
Wii
Mario Kart Wii
Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Mario vs Sonic Olympics
Harry Potter and the Something Something
Dark Knight
Good movie. Actually great movie. But not as great as everyone made it out to be. And I am not saying that because I want to be the "cool" guy that goes against the grain but I had a couple of issues with the plot. First and foremost [Spoilers Ahead!] Gordon's fake death. There is no way this could have planned or carried out, and if memory serves it doesn't really make any sense. There is no way any of that could have worked, nor would Gordon put all of his men and Dent in danger by doing that.
Also, the whole boat thing seems pretty out of character for the Joker, why wouldn't he have a timer set to midnight, everything else he did was perfectly planned but on this one he essentially didn't go along with the rules he set up. I won't buy the "he thought they would blow it up themselves", because then why would he bring the detonators. I have more on this but unless people want to discuss it in the comments I'll stop ruining the movie for people.
Minnesota Twins
First place. Fuck yeah! Hopefully it lasts but who knows, I would feel super confident about playing the Mariners if it was at the Dome, but I still think we can take the M's even out there in Seattle. Then to KC, hopefully they will be still so pissed at the Sox for throwing at Miguel Olivo's head (twice) that they will just roll over for the Twins this weekend. If Ozzie doesn't get at least a one game suspension for his actions yesterday I will be very surprised and pissed.
After the KC series the Twins have a pretty decent home stand before heading out on the road due to the RNC.
Liriano pitched well yesterday, obviously it's a huge upgrade over Livan, but I don't think he is going to be much over .500 this year. His velocity is down to low 90s and so is the speed on his slider. He still is way above average but don't expect a 2006 performance out of him. By this time his velocity should have been where it was pre-surgery if not higher.
With all that said, I'm pretty excited about the series right now, a lot can happen in the next two months but it's August and the Twins are in first. If anyone would have said that during Spring Training we would have laughed our asses off.
This Weekend
So Dammer, you coming up to MN? Is that still happening? Anybody doing anything fun? Should I come up to MN?

for your dark knight issues, i think gordon would be actually hurt pretty even if his vest stopped the bullet so i assumed they loaded him in an ambulance and planned to pretend he had died then. it also doesn't explain how joker gets hundreds of oil drums into the hospital or the ferries. i would think that would be quite a task. still i thought it was a great film and i loved every second joker was onscreen. i'm glad maggie gyllenhall died too.
I'm not sure if I'm still coming up or not. SB/Josey when were you guys leaving on your camping trip? I'll plan on either Friday or Saturday night if you'll be around.
Here's my game selection for 360:
GHII/III
Elder Scrolls: Oblivion
Lost Odyssey
GTA IV
F.E.A.R.
Halo 3
COD 4
GOW
Perfect Dark
Kameo
As for Dark Knight, I agree with Pablito about how the Joker was able to put that many oil drums in so many different places without being detected. I don't really have a problem with him not having the boats set to detonate. In his own mind he was probably thinking "There's no way nobody will detonate the other boat, and even if that's the case I'll just blow them up myself". Without the timer he can play the "the clock struck 12 how long do I let them think they're alive before I dash their hopes and crush the spirits of the onlookers". I do have a problem with Stuart Scott starting to say "Why so serious son" in his SportsCenter highlights.....I just don't get what he's trying to say. You shouldn't be so serious since you just had a 3 run shot smacked off your weak ass pitch?
Oh yeah, I forgot to say it's good that they finally brought up Liriano and got rid of Livan. I'm sorry, but an ERA over 5 is not something I want to have in the postseason. I'm just hoping one of the guys in what has to be one of the youngest rotations in baseball experience-wise in the majors can step up as a staff ace. I think Baker is close, and by far the most consistent out of the bunch. I'm just waiting for Blackburn to consistently not have "that one inning" which seems to happen to him once out of every two or three games.
must get this clock
The guys on Around The Horn all took the White Sox to win the Central in Buy or Sell today. Dumbasses....I was at least hoping Woody would come through for me but I guess not.
Oh yeah for got the GH II,III and GTA IV as well as MGS4 for PS3.
Dammer, you think you could mail me GOW Just to borrow? Just in a sleeve ala net flix? I'll trade you something?
Yeah I can I won't play it for a while anyway. I was close to purchasing Assassin's Creed when it came out, how about we swap for that one. Email me your address.
Ok, i'll agree with you on some of the stuff about The Dark Knight. It was random how the whole Gordon thing went down. But, I don't think that it took anything away from the movie. It was moving fast enough that I just kind of pushed that to the back of my mind. As far as the boat thing goes, we are talking about an insane guy. Also, he had other parts where the explosions were activated by him, like when he was in the interogation room. If he wouldn't have called the phone it wouldn't have exploded in that guys stomach. With the oil drum thing, that wouldn't have been hard if it was an abandoned warehouse and he took them there a few at a time. Besides he seemed to have a lot of guys working with him and they could have easily taken them for him.
On another note about this movie, it really makes me sad that Heath Ledger died after seeing his performance. I really think that this was his breakout performance. I know that everyone was talking about it after the release and before it for that matter, but he really did an awesome job. If I didn't know who was playing the joker I really don't know if I would have been able to guess that it was him.
Also, the creators had already signed a deal for 3 batman movies before the first one came out, so I was debating with friends about who would be the villain in the 3rd one. My most logical guess at the time would have been 2 face, but then thinking about the name Harvey Dent and seeing the coin at the beginning I figured that he was 2 face in this movie. I was hoping that they might just end this movie with a glimpse of him starting to turn into 2 face, but that really didn't happen since he went crazy and became him in this movie. Who do y'all think will be the next villain, the riddler, the penguin, catwoman, or will we all be so fortunate to see Arnold come back for a second round of Mr. Freeze (Completely kidding, that was the most horrible batman i've ever seen)?
As far as the Twins go they can go suck on an egg. The Astros got screwed this season for multiple reasons which I won't go into. I'll just assume that if they wouldn't have had these "multiple reasons" go wrong that they would have won it all.

dammit button hung on me and asked me to refresh, when i did it double posted. Sorry.
Did you see Lance Berkman run into the dugout last night when the lightening hit. I mean, I would have done that too, but still.
'Stros got lucky the game got called, Cubs were just about to mount a major come back.
Lol. I agree, NO ARNOLD! I'm actually kinda hoping we get to see the Riddler. A scarier than Jim Carrey Riddler, although if he did it again only scarier I'll bet he could do a good job.
