New GH, COD from Activision Blizzard

As many of you already know, a couple months ago there was a pretty large merger in the video game industry. Activision (makers of GH, COD, THPS) and Vivendi (makers of WoW, Starcraft, F.E.A.R) joined forces to make the new and largest game company in the world, Activision Blizzard.

Like most mergers the company released a fact sheet [PDF] detailing the strengths of both companies and plans for the future. In this fact sheet they reveal that Guitar Hero IV is being developed as is a new Tony Hawk Pro Skater (which by the way, has sucked the last couple games) and most importantly Call of Duty 5.

While I don't think this comes as a surprise that COD and GH are having another edition released as the current editions are still setting records, it is fun to try to think of possible ways they will update the series. Will COD5 be like COD4 and have it be modern warfare? Will it go back to WWII? Somewhere between like Vietnam or Korea? Or will it keep blazing a head in a Ghost Recon future kind of way? My Opinion? It will either go back to WWII or it will stay Modern. I wouldn't mind seeing like a 2030 future type game but I don't think that's COD's style.

I'll be home around 5:30 today. I need to clean my apartment as my family is coming this weekend and it looks like SB/Josey's apartment. Should I clean before LOST or should I play video games? I'll let the KofC decide.

Cleam before so you can watch lost and knowing you are done.

Good news with the game company merger, FEAR is a good game I played it a bit and obv COD is good, so they should be able to come up with something great.

I don't think I want to play a futuristic shooter, somehow I'm always dissapointed and it always feels the same. PDZ anyone? I think Korea or Vietnam would be a good game release. There are so many WWII games that I would almost be alright with a Civil War game....of course the gun selection would be quite limited. But hey, at least we'd be that much closer to someone making Sim Plantation.

"I don't think I want to play a futuristic shooter"

Says the avid Halo player.

Yeah I know, but that's why I think a 2040 would only be like 30 yrs from now. There will be like one variation of the m14 or what ever. Not like a plasma gun.

I don't know it was just a thought. I do hope it stays the current and just with some game play tweaks and new maps. Maybe by the time it comes out it will be us versus Iran?

Hmmm...I should rephrase that. I don't want to play futuristic shooters that suck.

there should be a war game where you sit in a control and look at a google earth type thing, pick a target, then press B to bomb it. that would be the war game for 30 years from now

Sorry toby but that game would be so bad, I realize that is more like how it goes down these days, but it would not be a very fun game.

Daymonster said...

yeah Toby... you idiot. that would be such a lame game. God, how could you ever think that would be fun?

Did you pick the B button so it would be a "red" button? I prove of that choice if you did.

Also, I disagree, that's not how it will be in 30 years. A) because as missiles improve so does missile defense. So some one has to fight it on the ground. B) There will still be an infantry in 30 years as sometimes you want to capture people or at least know they are killed.

If not an infantry at the very least there still would be an elite fighting force that only Josey and his superior ability to detect sarcasm would be allowed into.

yes i picked b cause it's red. also it could stand for bomb, but the other buttons could've been A for attack, X for xterminate, Y for yellow because they'll be pissing their pants when a bomb is coming at them, START for start bombing, or BACK for (bomb) back to stone age

Don't forget about the rarely seen Turbo button for when you just can't launch enough bombs. Or even better the Slow button that gives you enough time to strategize about your bomb placement. This is of course on third party controllers that make use of the Turbo (hit a button many many many times in a row) and Slow (pause-unpause the game over and over again) buttons to improve your gaming experience.

Oh...and the DPad is for Dammernating.

I thought it was for getting Daymonsternized? No?

I thought to bomb you had to hit, up up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, select, start.

Ever wonder why no one does old school codes anymore. Now they have cheat sections in the main menu where you enter in worlds like "GIMME50LIVESBITCH" to get 50 lives and stuff? That's Bullshit.

COD5 isn't made by the same guys, they trade off making COD games now. So they'll be making COD6.

Same guys made COD1, COD2, and COD4. The guys that made COD3 are making COD5. I don't know if it is confirmed yet, but the guys that made COD4 are supposedly making COD6 right now.

COD3 wasn't as good as 2 or 4. It had good multiplayer, but the sinlge player was horrible. So I have doubts it will be as good as COD4, but it should still be pretty good.

Yeah 1,2 and 4 were made by the same people (Infinity ward) and 3 was made by treyarch.

Rumor is that Treyarch posted a job on their website for a level designer for "call of duty" no number.

And it said they should be familiar with WWII shooters. So looks like they are going back. Also people are predicting it will be the pacific theater.

btw the site looks really good now, far better than any other blogspot site I've seen.

I'm still open to changing it to a regular site but I think people like the ease of use on the blog.

Plus its fun to see people that come to us by doing the random blog button at blogspot.
