BREAKING NEWS: Dammer dies of happiness

Six years after getting axed by Fox, Futurama is being resurrected on Comedy Central.

A spokesperson for 20th Century Fox Television confirms that the cable net has ordered 26 newepisodes of Matt Groening and David X. Cohen's late, great animated series to air beginning in 2010. The studio cites Futurama's "blockbuster" performance on DVD and in reruns on Comedy Central as the reason for its rebirth.

Hmmm... sound familiar?

"When we brought back Family Guy several years ago, everyone said that it was a once in a lifetime thing -- that canceled series stay canceled and cannot be revived," 20th Century Fox TV Chairmen Gary Newman and Dana Walden said in a joint statement. "But Futurama was another series that fans simply demanded we bring back, and we couldn’t have been happier when Matt and David agreed that there were many more stories yet to tell."

Adds Groening: "We’re thrilled Futurama is coming back. We now have only 25,766 episodes to make before we catch up with Bender and Fry in the year 3000."

Dammer, did you just pee your pants?

Winner: Unky Warthog

Warthog won the 5 blog points because it just happens to be the only one where I wouldn't have to move the bubbles around. Warthog and SB should be on the road now, so hopefully they will give us an update on their way to Vegas. I'm guessing not.

I Can't Drive 55

I had another run-in with authority today. Stupid speeding ticket on my way home, 73 in a 55, at least the guy knocked it down to a 65 so it doesn't go on my record. So that makes three in the last year, two in MN one in Iowa. Add that to the one I got on our way to Rochester to watch the third Blade movie, as well as to the one I got at 3:00 in the morning on my way to a Best Buy so I could sit outside in line and wait for a 360. So, right now I'm sitting at 5 speeding tickets and one stop sign violation. I'm curious, what's everyone else's driving history?

Saint Paul Clan Members Build a Fire Pit

Last Monday I had a comp day for working on Easter and coincidentally SB had the day off as well so we decided to start working on the fire pit that we had discussed. He came downstairs with some printed directions and we set off to Menards. We got 100 bricks, 200 pounds of gravel, along with a couple tools and brick adhesive. We came back and Josey was super excited to dig a hole so he started on that immediately. He even suggested that digging a hole is a great way to exercise and that a fun activity would be for two groups of guys to go out to the country for a hole-digging contest. I agreed, as you must with Josey's ideas. Digging went pretty quickly as SB and Josey took turns, I pitched in for a short time at the end, and then SB needed to go back to Menards for more gravel. Josey and I started laying a few layers of bricks, being careful to keep them perfectly level, see photo below. It was very scientific work actually. Eventually we found we needed 8 more bricks to finish the top layer so we made another Menards run, it was SB's fourth of the day. It is currently one layer higher than in the photo. We have further plans to add a patio around it as well as capstones to make the visible portion look nicer. For now it's a fully functioning fire pit and we're looking forward to hosting any clan members to a bigass bonfire.

21 Day Until Brokeback Big Guy

For my first post on this blog, I thought I would come out with some information that is important to at least a couple members of this blog. There was a headline today on the website of the Wall Street Journal that was entitled: "Iowa Court Says Gay Marriage Ban Is Unconstitutional"

A brief summary of the article states:

"The Iowa Supreme Court says the state's same-sex marriage ban violates the constitutional rights of gay and lesbian couples, making it the third state where gay marriage is
legal.

In a unanimous ruling issued Friday, the court upheld a 2007 Polk County District Court judge's ruling that the law was unconstitutional."

This ruling will take effect after a 21 day period. So, will there be an SB and Josey marriage in three weeks? According to a video discovered by one of the KofC's bloggers (Unky Eternal), there is significant evidence for this marriage. Only time will tell on this matter.

Halo Wars Strategies/Ideas

Most of this is obvious for us, but I just want to make sure for my own sake.

Build Order:
Obviously this is one of the most important aspects of the game especially at the beginning, and for any rushes. I normally do supply pad -> reactor -> barracks (for ODST strat). But I noticed some people build a reactor first. I don't think it really makes a difference but I am not 100% sure.

Troop Movements:
One thing I have trouble with is selecting groups of enemies. I often select all units and attack, but what happens is often my ODSTs get stuck in the back and can't be effective. It's a good idea to use smaller groups and set them up in an arc around what ever you are attacking.

Elephant Idea:
I haven't done this, but even though I can drop ODSTs I still find I have tens of troops trekking across the map. I am thinking if I set up an Elephant just outside their view and keep bringing in a flood of troops. What do you think? Is it worth it?

Explore:
I think the best feeling in the game is when you send out warthogs right away to explore for crates and to see what your opponent is building, and the other guy just has his hog sitting outside. It gives you a pretty damn good idea that they are going to suck. And when you can take their crates it gives you a big leg up.

Halo Wars: Strategy?

So, puyo and SB and I played last night from about midnight to 6am. We won 11 and lost 2. Anyone else get the game?

I don't know if we should all do warthog rushes. I think 2 people should, and then 1 builds ground units or hornets. Thoughts?

Breaking Down Fugg First's Stats

Even though no one knows his name, (FuggFirst, FuggFrist, MCHolla etc.) and he never posts and presumably never reads the blog. He is still apart of the Clan... a clan that is falling apart, but a clan no less. If you don't know FF is currently playing the game of American Basketball at a small Division III liberal arts school somewhere in the midwest. I think everyone (except for Adeclipse) has an idea of what that is like.

Well anyway, let's have a look at FF's numbers this season.

General:
20 Games
18 Games Started
Averaging 20.7 min per game.

Shooting:
31 FG/67 FGA
46.3 FG% (Highest of the team that has played more than 20 min total)
FF is the third lowest player for shot attempts, and since FF is the best shooter on the team, this is discouraging.

4.2 PPG. Like I said KofC thinks you should shoot more. While getting a lot of assists is good (see "Misc." below, let's be a little more selfish. Okay?)

Behind the Arc:
7 3FG/23 3FGA
30.5 3FG%
Surprisingly, FF is the second worst 3 point shooter on the team (besides the 0 for 1 big men) yet 30% is very respectable.

Free Throws:
15 FT/27 FTA
55.6% Free throw shooter.
Wow, come on FF that has to be better if you want to make the draft. While still considerably better than my 11% free throw percentage in 7th grade, I think someone needs to hit the gym.

Misc.
2.1 Rebs a game. Pretty solid.
55 Assists... wow. FF more than doubles the teams average assists per person (excluding bench scrubs)
29 Turn overs
19 Steals.
1 Block Shot. (Would like to have seen that)

Okay, so you need to shoot more, work on your free throws and imrpove the Steal to Turnover ratio.

As a team you are basically getting beat in every statistic except assists and deadball rebounds. It's a good start.

Weekend Recap

Hello KofC,

It's been a real long time since I actually posted a regular post. I would say arguably my last "real" post was December 5th. Those were the good old days. Christmas was still coming up and it wasn't -30 degrees.

Pablito and SB should be at the airport right now waiting for their flight. And I am at work, like a sucker. Feeling pretty sick.

As many of you know Pablito and SB came for the weekend on Saturday afternoon. I picked them up at the airport after a short delay and we went and got pizza at Pete's Pizza.

With both SB and myself feeling pretty sick, we sucked it up and joined some people on a Bar Golf tour. For those of you not familiar with Bar Golf, there are 9 bars on a pub/bar tour. Each one represents a hole and each one has a par. A par 4 is one drink/beer, par 5 is two drinks/beers. You can get birdies, eagles and hole-in-ones by drinking more drinks, shots, drop shots/bombs or combinations of all of them. We joined the group on the third hole, but quickly made up ground and arguably we could have made a case for the win or at least a sudden death playoff.

Amongst a lot of people dressed in golf apparel, we had a good time. One lady came over to us and asked what three good looking dudes were doing talking to each other and not her and her two friends. We politely played along as we might mosey our way over there, but then quickly walked the other way as she went back to report the news to her lonely friends. While the third female was obstructed from view, the two we could see (including the ballsy one who talked to us), were not quite up to our impossibly high standards. The ballsy one I referred too might have actually had balls. Her Adams apple was quite pronounced.

We found a couple new friends and convinced them to play credit card roulette for the next round of hole-in-one inducing irish car bombs. Luckily, each new member of our group got stuck with the bill. No funny business was used, third parties held the cards and the new members got to choose. Sometimes the drinking gods smile down on you.

We ended our night hailing a cab back to my place while a drunk homophob tried to fight us. Good times. We played castle crashers and braid for a while. Which btw, I recommend braid to all KofC members.

The next day we went to a breakfast place called Flat Top. Ate some food, and then played soccer. It was the playoffs and the two ringers I brought in couldn't do shit. Partially due to hangovers? Maybe. But either way my dreams of my soccer team finally winning a game was shattered.

Hungover and sick, we watched football and shawshank redemption for the rest of the night.

Yesterday we went to Notorious. Pablito and I liked it. SB thought it was boring. We then went to ESPN zone for dinner, and then quickly dropped about 60 bucks at the arcade. All throwing out our arms and schooling young children in hockey. After that we went to Lucky Strike, where we played pool and bowled.

Pablito won a very close bowling competition that netted him an extra 40 dollars on the night.

We came back and harassed people on PlayStation Home for a while. The non-workers (SB and Pablito) polished off the night with a boot each.

Some take aways from the weekend:
- Drinking slows down a recovery from sickness.
- Pablito is unstoppable at credit card roulette. (0 losses/6 games)
- SB is pretty good at credit card roulette. (1 loss/6 games)
- I am down right terrible at cc roulette (3 losses/6 games)
- PlayStation Home is fun for only one thing. Cock blocking 43 yr old UPS mechanic pedophiles.
- Obama is now the president of the United States. No matter how you feel about that, you have to admit the car trailing his new limo is down right awesome.

I'll be in MN, not this weekend, but next weekend. Anyone have any plans on Friday the 30th?

Sunday Afternoon Time-wasting

Man it's been a while, I almost forgot about how much fun it can be to post. In any case, I'm wondering how everyone's Christmas/New Years was. Mine was pretty dang good, hectic but good. I went to DanaWillEatU's Mom's in Sauk Centre for Christmas, back to Owatonna to work on that Friday, to my parent's place in Iowa for the weekend, back up to DanaWillEatU's mom's on Sunday, back to Owatonna on Monday, work for two days, up to DanaWillEatU's sister's house in Hutchinson Wednesday night for New Years, back to Owatonna Friday morning. Needless to say I'm tired of riding/driving.

I don't have an engagement to announce following the holidays, but it's been crossing the mind quite frequently now. One perk of that day coming is that I won't have all of DanaWillEatU's family checking her ring finger every time we come visit.

My New Years report is far less glamourous than last year (at least I didn't get kicked out of a club), although it was quite fun. I mixed Crown and Coke all night with DanaWillEatU's brother-in-laws and watched Superbad and Eagle Eye. We all probably know how entertaining Superbad is, but I'm curious as to whether any of you know how entertaining Eagle Eye is. On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being not entertaining and 10 being Iowa beating up on South Carolina in the Outback Bowl, this rated a 3.2 for me. I think I've gotten more enjoyment out of a Patrick Dempsey chick flick than I did out of Eagle Eye.

Holy cow, the TV just told me that the Baltimore Ravens' Ed Reed has 5 career interceptions in 3 post-season games, that's pretty damn good. Too bad the game isn't all that entertaining and I've been watching Smokey and the Bandit for much of it instead. I never would have guessed that transporting Coors east of Texas back in 1977 would be considered bootlegging. Here are some other online tidbits I've come across as of late:

- Nothing worse than an out of control beaver

- A mildly intense video

- As if we didn't already know

- A buddy at bowling showed this service from Google to me a couple weeks ago, I've already used it when I was lost trying to find DanaWillEatU and I's hotel

I'm going to make another attempt at coming up to the cities for a weekend, potentially the 24th. Go Vikings!

Great article.

Anyone who follows football at all should read this Bill Simmons article:

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/081219

A few excerpts:

Gift No. 2: A Blu-Ray player ($200-250). Better than DVD in every conceivable way. I won't recommend a brand because I don't want to offend a potential sponsor. (By the way, I didn't write that last sentence.) Make sure you also buy an HDMI cable as part of the gift; women always forget that part. Would we buy you a vacuum without a great extension cord? Of course not.

I thought reader Ian in Portage, Mich., summed up the season nicely: "Hey, check out what I did for the last six hours trying to make this work all the way through. OK, Kansas City beat Oakland, which beat Denver, which beat Cleveland, which beat Cincinnati, which beat Jacksonville, which beat Green Bay, which beat Seattle, which beat San Francisco, which beat Buffalo, which beat San Diego, which beat New England, which beat the N.Y. Jets, who beat Arizona, which beat Miami, which beat St. Louis, which beat Dallas, which beat Washington, which beat New Orleans, which beat Tampa Bay, which beat Minnesota, which beat Carolina, which beat Atlanta, which beat Chicago, which beat Indianapolis, which beat Baltimore, which beat Philadelphia, which beat the N.Y. Giants, who beat Pittsburgh, which beat Houston, which beat Tennessee, which beat Detroit, which beat NOBODY."

and:

"Surely, you grew up with Bob Barker and 'The Price is Right.' Hell, who didn't? Well, I hope you saw this call by Drew Carey from the Showcase Showdown. It makes Buck's call of the Helmet Catch sound like Gus Johnson. This is the new high point of announcing low points. As anyone who has watched this show knows, you rarely see anyone sniff $500, let alone $100 of their showcase showdown total. So what do you have here? The first contestant comes within $500 of the Showcase Showdown, then her opponent beats her by hitting the number right on the head!!!! He got it exactly!!!! This could have been -- in the arms of a decent game-show host -- the greatest game show moment of all-time. For God's sake, Drew couldn't have even faked some excitement as he paused and read off the guy's final dollar total? Would that have killed him? Instead, he looked like he just found out that tapioca had been taken off the menu in the CBS cafeteria. There has never been a worse announcer EVER! Seriously, Bob Barker needs to re-enter this show one day, WWE-style, and take Carey out. Oh My God!!!! It's the Undertaker!!!!!!!!"

Wu-Tang Clan Ain't Nuttin' ta F*&! Wit!

As promised, I'm taking some time now to write a quick blog about the Wu-Tang Clan concert SB and I attended on Monday. That's right, the Wu-Tang Clan. I'd seen the concert advertised for a while and thought it would be interesting to go because I used to listen to them back in the day as a rebellious teenager and I still pop in a Ghostface CD every once in a while in my car. So on Sunday I asked SB if he was interested and much to my surprise he said "yea, bring da muthaf%$#in' ruckus!"

I bought the tix and then we realized we were little scared. Neither of us had been to a rap show, would there be thugs and gangsters poppin caps in the dorky white guys there? We overcame our fears (and the rotten weather) and it turns out most of Wu-Tang's fans are nerdy white guys just like us. We learned another valuable lesson too, rap shows have complete disregard for the scheduled start time. It was supposed to start at 8:00 but I suggested we show up late so we wouldn't see the opener. We got there at 8:45 and waited over an hour before the screen hiding the stage came up. And then the opener came out! They were a Wu-Tang affiliate called Ice Water. They did a few songs then the screen came back down for about another hour before we finally saw Wu. The concert finally finished up at about 1 AM, resulting in me calling in sick the next day for work.

You can see it was actually quite similar to the last concert SB and I went to, Weezer. Each band has similar gang signs and a fanbase of dorky, urban white dudes...

Here's a quick vid I took with my phone.

All you need is an old Xbox HDDVD drive and some other stuff that I don't really understand.

But you can light matches with the laser. I am sure I have a need for that.

Daymonster's Christmas List

Here is a list of some of the stuff I hope Santa Claus brings me.

1. Nerf N-Strike Vulcan EBF-25
It's a fully auto nerf gun that has a rate of fire of about 2-3 darts per second. It has a tripod for holding down the base or a strap to carry it around Josey style.

2. Wild Planet’s Spy Video ATV-360
That little eye piece fits over your eye and the ear phone goes in your (you guessed it) ear. You drive this bad boy in the girls locker room and well, you get the idea... too bad you can't record on this thing.

3. McDonald's Gift Cards

Even though they got rid of the Double Cheeseburger and now call it the McDouble because it only has one slice of cheese, I don't care I can eat it without ever leaving my building at work.

What kind of crap to you guys want?

Help Wanted.

My parents just got a new TV (Sharp 32" LCD HDTV) and they're having trouble syncing the audio and video (audio comes in before video). Would digital audio coaxial cables help this situation (it seems not, because the audio is not the problem) or do I need some sort of new video component cable? Right now the TV is hooked up to a cable box and I have a coax cable loading the video from the box to the TV and basic red/white audio cords loading the audio from the box to the TV. Is there anything I can do to solve this problem?

I looked it up online and stumbled across this pessimistic response. It's pretty interesting--should check it out.

UnkyTrip!

I'm very pleased we're going back to the blog. I liked the layout of the forum, but when it is only us talking this is just so much more user friendly.

Other than being extremely hungover and having to start and write a 15 page paper on 19th century banking that is due tomorrow, things are looking good for Warthog.

Last night I found out that I made it into the top band (insert "boner" joke here) and now I'll be able to go to Japan and China for 3 weeks after graduation this spring. You can see that I'm obviously looking forward to the GreatWallterSlide.

Forum vs Blog

I think people got confused on what I was trying to do when I posted the thing about Daymosnter's forum... Basically I was testing out the templates to see how it works for when I made MNBaseballForum.com

I never intended it to be a replacement for the blog. But at the same time if KofC members would have wanted something like that (like a KofC forum not Daymonsters) I would have been fine with it.

At least it would more likely for other people to be the creator of the content and not just a commenter. If I stop posting shit, people stop commenting and then I have nothing to read on the interwebs.

Basically what I am saying is... Josey where the fuck did you go? Stop being so self important and post some funny shit. Pablito, post something. Anything. Fan Fiction? SB, write another thing about Josey. Eternal make another vid. Dammer, keep up the good work on MNBaseballForum. I'm too lazy to keep writing, someone needs to help me out. I went over a year... WE went over a year... we can't let this fail now.

Monday

Couple things I have been thinking about over the weekend, in no particular order.

- The game Braid is really fun you should buy it on Xbox Live Arcade.

- The demo for Mirror's Edge was also really fun. You should down load it one Xbox Live.

- Anyone play Fallout 3 or Gears of War 2 yet? Are they good? Is it worth it?

- Still can't get Adobe CS3 to install and it's really pissing me off.

- Civ Rev was on sale at target for 35 bucks. You should buy if if you haven't yet. SB and Pablito play it frequently.

- I bought Little Big Planet for PS3. It's pretty fun, it was a lot more fun until they started deleting the user made levels for copyright infringement.

- Vikes Won, Steelers Lost, Bears Lost. Good day.

- What are peoples holiday plans? Who's going to be in the area and when? Hope everyone is doing well.

Sincerly,
Monster

Video Games or Wife?

Found on Digg today from http://www.burbia.com/node/2096

Guy
: What's normal?
Woman: Probably not all waking hours.
Guy: I don't....
Woman: You're right, once in a while you sit in front of the TV eating Doritos watching wrestling.
Guy: By whose standards is any behavior normal?
Woman: By my standards, that say if you don't cut down the gaming by say, 90%, I'm leaving you and taking the kids.
Guy: (pauses) Those are your standards.
Woman: Yea, and you've got a week to make them yours.

______________________

Ed Note: This one was submitted by a Burbia friend outside Boston. After laughing, we tried to confirm with him it actually happened. The friend said he was at the diner with his girlfriend, in a booth in front of the happy couple. He said the couple was loud, especially the woman who, he observed, was chain-drinking coffee and "kept waving her hands like a lunatic." One time, he said, "I had to slide over because she kept knocking the back of my head." Our friend said the stuff leading up to this particular moment was equally nutty -- something about the guy not listening to her, and the woman not hearing him and their arguing endlessly about the difference between "hearing" and "listening." Your basic nightmare.

By the time our guy could start scribbling what he was hearing (or listening to?) on his placemat, the arguing couple was now onto this particular thread. So, he scribbled it as best he could. We spoke to our friend's girlfriend who also said it happened. In fact, she said that, when they got home, she started giving our friend a hard time for his football obsession--not because he watched so much (which he did) but because, according to her, he never shut up about it, as if she really gave a crap about the details of his 8 different fantasy league teams' standings and player performances.

So, what did this guy choose? His gaming or his wife? Our eavesdropper said that, after ongoing arguing, the guy stood up, then sat down, then quickly stood up again -- and he said something along the lines of, "not fair," or "not right" and, in the same motion of stuffing some french fries in his mouth, stormed off.

In this spirit, we tee up this overheard. Some of us have been in similar siutations -- whether over gaming or TV watching or hanging with buddies or simply staring too long into space. Is this one totally authentic? We think so -- on the other hand, who knows. We like it, though; at worst it's representational and entertaining, so we say....enjoy and consider it a possible cautionary tale. And if you can figure out the difference between "hearing" and "listening" please let us know. (E.g., when we say, "I hear you," doesn't that mean I not only hear the sounds you're making but "get" what you're saying?) Also, why is it OK to "meditate" -- that's considered productive, socially acceptable -- but not OK to stare comfortably and happily (and blankly) into space? We think staring-into-space is highly underrated as a legitimate activity...of course, that's another conversation and conflict. ...overhear more

Happy Haloween, Knights!

How was everyone's Haloween? What did everyone end up being? Warthog and I bought windsuits from the local good will and went out as Team USA. Despite a few run ins with the police and failing to get into the bar saturday night because of long lines and pushy people, we had a pretty solid Haloween weekend.
Stories anyone?

Halloween Costume Pt 2.

So Adeclipse's idea of "God's Gift to Women" made it to number 7 on the "20 Costumes that will earn you a Halloween Beating"

But I think this one is way worse.

Get it? Hung like a horse! Cause it's a horse where his penis is and there is a noose around it. Wow, that is rich!

KofC Podcast Episode 2: Auntie Eternalex Edition

Welp, I finally finished editing the second edition of the podcast. It's about 13 minutes long and mostly features an interview with Unky Eternal's "adoring" friend, Auntie Enternalex. It ends fairly abruptly at the end, because I couldn't find anything good to end it with. I still have some good audio of us playing drinking games and talking about religion, but that will have to wait for episode 3.

Something things I learned while doing this:
1- I talk really loud when I am drunk (who doesn't)
2- I get a speech impediment when I am drunk
3- It's really hard not to say peoples real names
4- I kept saying, "this is a really good podcast" and "this is good stuff" and the amount of time we have been recording, which after editing, is never accurate.
5- Puyo talks very quietly so he is impossible to capture on audio tape.
6- Some people think it's called a blogcast. Which I kind of like.
7- I thought I edited some of this crap out, but when I went back to it, it was all still in there, and I was too lazy to do it again.

Here you go, you can download the mp3 here (right click, save target).

Saw V and Halloween

Who knew a 2 day work week could still suck so much?

Anyway, as I am sure you are all aware, two of my favorite movie series are premiering tonight. High School Musical 3: Senior Year and Saw V. Squatting Bear, I am sure you are planning on seeing Saw V? Do you think you will have to walk out in the middle of it and come back like you did with The Strangers?

Which I just realized Dennis from Always Sunny is in that movie... strange. (no pun intended)

The recordings from last weekend are pretty interesting and sometimes annoying. Will hopefully have it up and ready to go this weekend. It would have been a lot easier to edit it if Josey wouldn't have kept calling certain girls by their full first and last name.

Halloween is almost here. What do you think the top costumes are going to be? Sarah Palin for girls? Leger Joker for guys? What is the KofC dressing up as?

I am going as a Ghostbuster and or Greenman.

Attention all Knights.

Dear Knights,

Before I begin my law work for the day I felt like we needed to clear up what is going on tomorrow. I was unable to get a reservation before 9:30, and many of you have indicated you just cannot wait that long to eat. So we must consider alternatives.

It dawned on me just moments ago that I have not participated in a large lan party in a long time, and from the poll I see many Knights would like to eat at the K of C house. Thus, I am proposing we have a lan, eat some steaks, and get wasted all night long – can anyone say Halo 1. We are going to need some more TVs and Xboxes but I am sure we can come up with those.

Please Knights share your feelings about this new idea and what you would like to do tomorrow so I can cancel the reservation if no one wants to go. If people would like to have a lan please begin debating about teams for Halo 1, Halo3, and COD4 now.

Thank you, Josey Wales

P.S. Loco is on my team.

Saturday Evening Post (Get it?)

So looks like the tentative plans are to go to Manny's at 9:30pm. From some of the comments I am not sure if everyone is on board. Before I say anything further, I want everyone to thank Josey for getting us that reservation. But Pablito, Eternal, Warthog and I are all a little concerned about the late eating time.

Some possibilities are:

  • Try and get a reservation at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.
  • Go somewhere that is not a steakhouse. (Josey, I know, out of the question, I'm just saying)
  • Grill at the KofC Clubhouse
  • Other

I know Josey wants to make sure we go out somewhere. Understandable for a man in his situation, while the KofC is a great group of people, we don't have too many vaginas in the clan (Except maybe Adeclipse, oooh burn).

I really could care less if we go out, would rather not go to a "club" unless it's Stargate. I never made it in there last time as when I came back in the limo, there was a drunk SB wandering around the parking lot.

Nice clubs probably won't let me in with my new mustache anyway. Vote for what you want to do on the right, and comment on specifics.

KofC, I need your help!

So I need to host a booth at my companies party about our soccer team and I need some help.

A. I need to dress up like something that has to do with soccer. I could do the classic "dress up like a soccer player" but that seems kind of lame. One idea is to some how use my new full body green spandex suit. Any ideas?

B. I need to create a booze drink that is soccer themed. This is where I feel like you guys could really help.

C. I need to create some sort of activity at the booth. Like shoot a ball in a goal, but better than that.

Seriously I need to come up with this stuff by the end of the day so anything would be helpful.

Sincerely,
The Daymonster

FuggFirst/FuggFrist/Holla10/MCHolla Sighting in Chicago??

So I was riding the El the other day coming home from class, and I thought I saw Holla's slightly handicapped, larger twin brother. I thought he resembled Holla so much that I took this crappy picture with my phone. The dude behind him and his GF (not pictured) thought I was taking a picture of them and followed me off the train, or they happen to live near the same stop, either way.

I showed this to Pablito and he seemed to agree with me saying. "haha, is that [Holla] super drunk or something?"

That built my confidence that it looked like him. But then I showed it to Unky Warthog, arguably Holla's closest friend and best knower of his intricate facial features. He thought I was trying to say it looked like Josey. This is the conversation, and I think my point is a salient one.

me: does this look like anyone?
Unky Warthog: no
me: you're a fool
Unky Warthog: i mean from the title i assume you mean Josey
me: no Holla10
Unky Warthog: na
me: i don't respect your opinion
Unky Warthog: haha i know what Holla looks like better than you
me: exactly, you know what he looks like tooo much
Unky Warthog: perahps
me: you don't see his facial features in an objective way, it's all about emotions for you.
Unky Warthog: lol. i just don't think thye look that similar. i'd say if they did
me: it's like if someone showed a picture of someone they thought looked like someone I cared about I wouldn't think it looked like them, even if it did.
Unky Warthog: yeah
me: I mean Holla knows his face better than anyone, but I wouldn't believe him if he said this didn't look anything like him

So does the above picture resemble an ogreish looking Holla10? If you don't know what he looks like, you can take a look at this picture. Vote in the side bar on what you think.

UPDATE: After the Vote it was 17 saying it was a "solid impostor" and 3 saying "didn't look like him". I think it's safe to say all 3 of those votes came from Warthog.

Wins for Warthog

A week ago today things weren't looking too great for Unky Warthog. My 360 had gotten RROD for the 2nd time, I had <$1000 to my name, and for the first time in my life I was beginning to buy low-cost off-brand items at Walmart to save a few pennies.

But then I won a bunch of money. Last Tuesday night I won a $1000 tournament for $77,000 and then got 2nd in a $150 tournament for $19,000. Though I won $96,000, I kept only $36,000 because of the financial deal I was in with a very good man who may be visiting this weekend.

I was lucky enough to have Holla10, SB, Unky Eternal, and my backer stay up with me through the wee hours of the night and managed to keep the noise down while my unaware roommates slept upstairs. When there were 50 people left in the tournament Eternal asked if I would buy a carton of cigarettes if I won, and as sure as my name is Unky, I did! I bought a carton of cigarettes! Still many packs left.

The next day I went on a massive shopping spree at Walmart. I bought a new 360, a plug and play, 5 bottles of booze, a wireless router, and countless other goodies. While my poor friends were returning cans for a five cent refund I was strolling the aisles w/ Eternal putting whatever I wanted in the cart. Not since freshman year have I had money that I could be so reckless with.

And things only got better. On Friday SB, Holla10, and Auntie Eternalex (eternal's GF), came down and we partied pretty hard. Some highlights included beers at a restaurant/bar, boots, beer pong, Family Table, Great Dragon, and a case b/w SB and Holla Saturday afternoon. We also played some live poker and I swiped SB clean. That night SB and Holla were pretty strung out but they managed to muster up some strength and party once more.

We went to the local club and when the lights turned on for closing time the bar was astonished to see what was about 2L of blood on the dancefloor. Apparently some girl stepped on a bottle. Soon an ambulance came and it sounds like the girl will be alright. Much to the chagrine of Auntie Eternalex, SB woke up at 8:45 the next morning and made her give him a ride home. Holla10 and I played poker all day, with no luck, but fun was surely had by all.

I look forward to a trip to St. Paul this weekend. First clan gathering where everyone is of legal age?

Saturday Night?

This Weekend:
So as some of you know, I am making my way to Minnesota this weekend and I cleared my schedule for Saturday night. I know you guys just had a major Boozeapalooza party and are in the planning stages of a Halloween party or something, but I will be in town and I would like to hang out with as many of you as possible.

SB, I will most likely be spending the night at the KofC Clubhouse. Hopefully on a couch and not freezing my ass off under the beer pong table with my hands inside my sleeves, or on a random persons porch, or in the back of Dammer's truck.

Josey, I want to celebrate another law school victory with you, and possibly get in an argument.

Pablito, we only have so much time together before you become are first member to actually move abroad for real. Unky, Malta doesn't count.

Video:
Also, when I worked at CareerBuilder for a very short and un-enjoyable time, this dude was kind of my boss.

"That Timberlake Kid" not Christian Laettner.

Video 2:

Check out Soulja Boy talking about how he is the best at Halo 3. Sweet K/D ratio of .91.

Football:
Why are the Vikes so bad? 12 points against the Lions? Seriously?

Thank God the Bears lost, one of the best ends to a game I have seen in a long time.

Questions:
Does anyone play video games anymore? Puyo, how is the 2009 Pontiac G8 GT?

got em!

After a long, trying sunday full of donkaments I figured out how to post under my name for the site (with the help of some unky's). I must admit that it was today's greatest accomplishment.

Knights of Cydonia Podcast: Episode 1

Like any good blog/website you need a podcast. So Pablito and I made one last night. Trust me it's really, really, really good. It's about 60 seconds long so be prepared to be amazed.

NOTE: It's recorded in Stereo so if you are listening to it with headphones make sure you have both in. If you don't you might only hear part of the interesting conversation.

You can also download the mp3 for listening on your iPod or other portable music player here.

Minnesota Bound

No, not the show with Ron Schara and his dog Raven.

I am going to be coming to Minnesota Friday Oct 17 and leaving Wednesday Oct 22nd. I am not sure exactly what the plans are but I will be in the area. Possibly Saturday night or on any of the weekday nights? Anyone have any plans?

Thoughts on the Death of Summer and Birth of Autumn

Well it's been official for a little while now, but it didn't finally sink in to me until this last weekend. The summer is over. Does anyone else feel like they didn't get all that they wanted out of their summer? I didn't go tubing once, which is super sad because I love tubing. I didn't go mini-golfing at the place two blocks away from me. I went actual golfing probably 6 times, which isn't too bad, but it didn't end up being enough to justify buying a new set of Pings. Maybe that will be on a wishlist for Christmas. The nice thing about Pings is that they are customizable and they have a cool website to do the sizing for you. Of course, it's better to have the sizing done by a golf pro, but at the least if you think it can be better the clubheads can be adjusted as many times as needed. I went fishing two times, neither of which was all that productive. So this made me think, what the hell did I do with my summer? Well, I played a lot of disc golf so I can't feel too bad about that. I probably went 10 - 15 times, at an average of 4 - 5 beers per time. I took a couple Saturdays to go to a city park with some coworkers to grill food, drink beer, and play bocce, horseshoes, softball, lawn golf, etc. I went to one Twin's game and watched Baker pitch a two-hit loss. I started running routinely and have lowered my weight to about 195, a ten pound drop in probably 3 months time. I also went to a couple parties in various places, and took a trip to Colorado with DanaWillEatU. Oh yeah we got an apartment together so I suppose that's a plus.

So as you can tell, the summer wasn't all that exciting. At least there's room for improvement though right? I mean, bowling league started last week and I went 105-166-212 for my first series. I switched my flex day to Friday so that Thursday night bowling can turn into Thursday night bowling and happy hour. I spent this last weekend in Ames, Iowa watching the Iowa State Cyclones almost beat Kansas. Now, I'm an Iowa fan so I don't know why I've been to an ISU game each of the last two seasons, but in either case last year was Oklahoma and that was almost an upset so I figure I've probably seen the two best games of the respective seasons. I've decided to go watch some curling matches (if that's what you call them) here in town when the season starts to see if that's a sport worth dabbling in. Pheasant season back home will start and I'll probably try to shoot me a few over Thanksgiving. In any case, I'm wondering what the Knights have planned for the fall and if anybody has anything exciting worth talking about...anyone?

Odds and ends:
- I remembered this video the other day and started to laugh to myself.
- The Vikings are beating the Saints right now, I'm fully expecting a collapse but who knows.
- SB after your last mowing attempt you should probably get one of these.
- If the company I work for wasn't lame, I'd be buying this stuff constantly.

5 friends uncensored

I was told to send this to 5 friends, and since I don't have any friends I thought I would just post it on here.

Some of it is funny, and it mentions Halo.

News from the Monster

After a terrible night watching the Twins season end. I have some things I want to talk to the KofC about. It's been a while since a real post and I can't say that this one will be that well written, but some of it should be interesting.

I am not exactly sure when it is, but I think it's exactly our one year anniversary. Halo 3 came out on September 25th, 2007 and it looks the first post was on Oct 1st, 2007. So to all Happy Anniversary. A lot has happened in the last year.

- Some clan members got married. (Can't find link... but it was Tilla)

- Some clan members "betrayed" the clan.

- We almost got sued.

- We talked about assists and efficiency formulas.

- We added several new members: Unky Warthog, Unky Playboy, Unky Eternal, Adeclipse, DJ Maestro, McHolla and Shoes McGee.

There is probably more than that, that has happened, but oh well.

UPDATE: Not-so-Bad News:
Squatting Bear's mom told my mom that Squatting Bear would be televised on ESPN2. I stayed up the whole time watching and I never saw him. I wasn't paying enough attention to see him in the background or something but I was paying fairly close attention to the others at the table.

SB, what gives? Were you on there? Who was at your table on day 3?

Nevermind... I found it.

Go to 6:43. Look to Phil's left.

LocoPuyo's new car

Dear Knights,

A few days ago I bought a new car, a 2009 Pontiac G8 GT.  I like it a lot.  Here are a few pictures, click to enlarge.

2009 Pontiac G8 GT 2009 Pontiac G8 GT 2009 Pontiac G8 GT2009 Pontiac G8 GT2009 Pontiac G8 GT

I got the premium package (leather seats, etc.) and the 18"all-season tires.  A lot of them come with 19" summer only tires which would not be a very logical purchase on the eve of winter in Minnesota.   It has a 362 HP 6 Liter V8 engine which gets 15/24 mpg city/highway. The interior is very nice and can seat 4 very comftorably, it can seat 5.  I'm fairly tall and can fit in the back seat behind the driver's seat adjusted to how I sit with plenty of head and leg room.  The sound system is excellent and has plenty of power.  It has a 6 cd changer, which can also play mp3 cds, AM/FM/XM radio, and an auxillary jack for mp3 players.  It has a nice LCD display in the center that controls everything and is very comftorable.  All the audio can also be controlled on the steering wheel, which is very nice and a reason I burned a few mp3 cds instead of using my mp3 player.  It doesn't have bluetooth to connect to my phone or a navigation system which would have been nice but aren't available.  I can make calls and get turn by turn directions with Onstar though.

Sincerely,

LocoPuyo

News from Unkyville

How's it going Knights?

Unkys everywhere are pretty disappointed we didn't get to come to the party and are glad it was such a success. Were there any boot chugs, beer bongs, 40hands, or other crazy binge drinks, or was the crowd to sophisticated for these shenanigans?

I had a unique thing happen to me in H3 the other day. I was playing with Eternal and my weapon of choice ended up being a 'Warthog Driver' (4 splatter kills). I thought that epitomized my playing style. We've been playing quite a bit and have occasionally played w/ SB but with others would sign on.

It's been fun watching the Twins beat up on the ChiSox and I'm looking forward to tonight's game. Also enjoying the NFL season and watching the Cowboys pwn up on the league.

I take the LSAT in 9 days so I've been doing my fair share of studying and will be quite happy when it's all over. SB, you should really come down this weekend. One time!

Boozeapalooza

Well, it's Saturday. I hope all KofC members have a good day. It's Boozeapalooza for many of you, and I am sure guys will have fun. Josey, tell the neighbor I say 'Hi'. I am sorry I can't make the festivities.

Someone take pictures of the party...

For those of you who are not participating in either event, I hope you find something to do. Adeclipse, have fun wrangling cows or drilling for oil, or whatever it is you do. Playboy and Unky have fun making sweet sweet music to the ugly Luther female contingency.

Whatever you guys do, represent the KofC well!

Boozeaplooza!

Dear Knights,
Next Saturday we are going to be having an amazing party. There will be tons of beer and we need you guys to show up and drink it – beer does not drink itself - so mark your calendars!

Sincerely, Josey Wales

So Lazy

I actually have a lot to write about (none of it politcal even) but I just can't do it. So to pass the time check out the below clip.

Thursday, September 4, 2008

Thoughts?

I know, no one wants to get in to politics on this blog. I only know the political views of a select few of the KofC contingency. But I watched the RNC last night basically from 5pm to midnight last night. And I wanted to get some of your opinions. I watched Palin's speech and it's clear she is a great speaker, and a "pit bull with lipstick."

I don't know if any of you watched it but here are a few excerpts:

Our son, Track, is 19. And one week from tomorrow, September 11, he'll deploy to Iraq with the Army infantry in the service of his country.

Possibly illegal to release deployment dates of troops, or she is lying to remind us of 9/11.

I guess -- I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibilities.

At the time Obama was being a lowly community organizer, Palin was taking on the "actual" responsibilities, of being a sports reporter for a local news station and working at a car wash.

I told the Congress, "Thanks, but no thanks," on that Bridge to Nowhere.

After you ran your campaign on the platform of building the bridge, saying the term "Bridge to Nowhere" was insulting to the people that lived in "Nowhere",went to the town the bridge was going to be built and told them that it was necessary to their economy. You then accepted the money from the federal government that was meant for the bridge, and never built it.

That pipeline, when the last section is laid and its valves are open, will lead America one step farther away from dependence on dangerous foreign powers that do not have our interests at heart.

Do you mean the pipeline, built and maintained by Canadians?

Americans, we need to produce more of our own oil and gas. And... And take it from a gal who knows the North Slope of Alaska: We've got lots of both.

The oil that will take over decade to get to our gas tanks, reduce the price of gas by mere cents and will run out in an estimated 10 years.

Our opponents say again and again that drilling will not solve all of America's energy problems, as if we didn't know that already.

Totally. As if.

Al Qaida terrorists still plot to inflict catastrophic harm on America, and he's worried that someone won't read them their rights.

Yes, don't read them there rights, throw them in a POW camp for a few years. Then they can run for president once they get out.

Government is too big; he wants to grow it. Congress spends too much money; he promises more. Taxes are too high, and he wants to raise them. His tax increases are the fine print in his economic plan.

And let me be specific: The Democratic nominee for president supports plans to raise income taxes, and raise payroll taxes, and raise investment income taxes, and raise the death tax, and raise business taxes, and increase the tax burden on the American people by hundreds of billions of dollars.

Yes, very specific. He must want to raise ALL income taxes, ALL payroll taxes, ALL investment taxes etc. I mean you didn't say anything about shifting the tax burden away from middle to lower class, and you said you were being specific so I believe everything you said is exactly true.

My sister, Heather, and her husband, they just built a service station that's now open for business, like millions of others who run small businesses. How are they... How are they going to be better off if taxes go up?

Well unless your sister makes a few million with her service station, I don't think it will affect her.

I could go on and on with some of it. I neglected to mention all the POW talk just because I don't think I could add anything to new to it.

Ninja Glove

So, my Brother-in-law sent me an email with a link to this game. I tried and thought it was near impossible, but with a little bit of perserverance I have come close to mastering the Ninja glove.

The game is essentially 21 mini challenges that resemble other great free internet games. From like an astroid type game to a mini golf game, you need to complete all 21 challenges to work your way up from ninja pinky, to ninja thumb and if you are truly a master... NINJA GLOVE!

Here is the link to the game:

Right now I am ranked 51st in the world. But those scores are impossible to beat since they fixed some sort of pause glitch. I dare anyone to try to challenge me at Ninja Glove.

KofC Get to Know 'Em: Maestro

How are you?
I am fairly buzzed from drinking this afternoon.

You just got back from the cross-country team trip to Colorado, what was the sweetest part of the trip?
The sweetest part was tying for 1st in our annual mini golf tournament. [Ed. Another KofC member representing the clan in activities other than vids, way to go!]

Second part of previous question: the seniors decided to not do senior night this year for what can only be a lame reason, since you're a senior next year please verify you're going to do senior night and bar-hop your way across Estes Park.
As has been discussed among us already, there is definitely going to be a senior regardless of what anybody says. [Ed. Thank God.]

Rock Band or GH?
I must say that I do like the way that GH distinguishes its different notes while playing, but Rock Band definitely beats it out right now. However, when the new GH comes out it might win this battle, the drum set looks sweet. [Ed. I hate how RB distinguishes notes on guitar/drum, but the singing looks pretty cool.]

You just turned 21, how does it feel to be of age, and what were you doing the minute that you turned 21?
Turning 21 is one of the top 2 best feelings of a person's life, but sadly when I turned 21 I was sleeping at midnight, and then running in the morning. However I did purchase beer, drink beer by playing quarters, and then proceed to carry my beer across campus to show off my age.

Everyone has a drinking habit......SB, Big Guy, and Eternal piss the bed, Dammer falls out of bed and randomly explodes in anger, Warthog swallows his own puke, Pablito talks in German and then sleeps like a petrified tree for 14 hours straight, Adeclipse blacks out and can't be held responsible for what he does, Daymonster pukes on people's vehicles (Ed. No 'monster I'm not mad, I just have only drank with you 3 times in my life and this is what popped into my head)......Maestro what's your habit?

I will say that I tend to go for the ladies. I really loosen up and come on to the ladies to a point where I probably scare them away, but hey I'm drunk so what can I do?

Follow-up: Will you ever get a girlfriend so that DanaWillEatU has someone to talk to when we come home to visit?
I am working on it. I realized that this year is the year to really go after it, and since a lot of the freshman girls are fairly hot I can't go wrong. [Ed. That's gotta be a lie, Luther girls are not hot.] Besides, once I get drunk I can at least get some bad decisions out of them, and on a sidenote, Rose Bear is still younger to SB than freshman are to me so I'm still good.

Daymonster doesn't like Smash Bros., I think that it's fun. Does Daymonster need to look past the button smashing and allow himself to have some fun? What are your embellishments/beefs about Smash Bros.?
I will say that smash bros is great, I thouroughly enjoy playing it, but I actually haven't played too much of it for a very long while. I will say that the only cool part about smash bros is the new characters. Aside from that, the new levels are sub par, and the game play is no different then melee, so what's the point of playing brawl over melee?

What's the longest distance “Buckack!!” you've ever done and was Unky Warthog the recipient?
First off, Unky Warthog was always the recipient, and he most likely always will be, but since Cody (God Dammit) is coming back for a ridiculous almost 2 years there will be some his way. [Ed. That's so sick.] The longest distance was from Brandt to Jensen (Unky had a Trombone lesson so feel free to laugh at that).

There is one (and only one) game you can pick to play for the rest of your life, what game do you choose?
Wow, that's a tough question, but since you must realize that I have not been addicted to Halo or any of those other games due to lack of an Xbox system, I will say that I could play Zelda Ocarina of Time for the rest of my life and be happy with it. The advances that were made when that game was released, and the enjoyment of almost every part of that game is priceless.

You recently ran 17 miles as part of your cross-country training, what is your weekly maximum for this season and do you think you could take Josey in a 30 mile race?
My weekly maximum is 80 miles, and I could easily take Josey in a 30 mile race. I say this because I could get through the first 20 miles at around 7 minute pace, and then after that I would have a decent lead on Josey so I would just have to gut out the last 10 miles. [Ed. If you could pick one video game character to live like, who would it be and why?
I would be Link from the Zelda series. He gets every chick to want to marry him, and he pwns at teleportation by song and killing random enemies.

If you could watch in real life one video game cut-scene, what would it be and why?
It would be the cut scene when Greil from Fire Emblem Path of Radience fights the Black Knight. I have seen a lot of cut scenes, and this is so far my favorite.

Name one moment in video games that has touched you emotionally.
The moment in Baten Kaitos when Kalas your main character betrays you after 45 hours of intense gameplay. [Ed. Agreed!]

There is only one food you can eat for the rest of your life, what is it and would you consider eating it with syrup on top?
The answer is steak and yes I would consider putting syrup on top. [Ed. New recipe? ]It would probably make it even more delicious.

Chunky or creamy peanut butter?
Chunky is the way to go. I find it is like gambling because you never know if you are going to get that rotten peanut or not.

What's the best beer you've ever had? And by best don't limit yourself to taste alone, take into account any extraneous situations you may have been in.
Up to this point the best beer I have had was by brand a Keystone Light, but it came out of the very first Das Boot on the night that it arrived and changed many members of the KofC forever.
